The First Home Owners Grant (FHOG) was introduced on 1st July 2000 to offset the effect of the GST on home ownership, established by a inter government agreement between all States and Territories and the Federal Government. As the grant is administered by the Revenue Office in each State or Territory, they have uniform rules across the country. Although I am a local Sydney mortgage broker, I have come across FHOG application forms from other states as well as assisting first home buyers from other states and I can say the content of FHOG forms are identical.
