MegsyG's new house! 3Apr 19, 2009 10:38 pm Hi Meghan You are building not far from us, as we are building at Marriot Waters, Lyndhurst. That's a nice size block you have there and you will have a good size back yard. I like the house plan and colours too. I hope the build goes nice and smoothly for you. Where abouts in the estate are you building? Building a Modified Lawson Modern 29 @ Botanic Ridge, Cranbourne South, Victoria Re: Here we GO! Looking at all the displays getting more and more confused about colours! Where abouts in the estate are you building? We are in stage 2, so when you drive in the main entrance to the estate, we are in the section on the left where there are quite a few finished houses already. We bought a re-sale block which was already titled so building started as soon as were ready. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Colour Selection Done 22/4 6Apr 22, 2009 1:42 pm We did our colour selection yesterday and I am a tiny bit disappointed. We were only only allowed to choose 2 laminate colours and only those two could be used in the entire house. In any combination. Last 2 houses we built, you could have whatever you wanted wherever you wanted. Also with internal painting: I am a BIG fan of walls one colour and architraving, woodwork, ceiling and cornice and doors in another. May not be your style but i like that look. But if I wanted that, the painter charges an arm and a leg. So on principal I am not doing it, but that means I sort of had to sacrifice my internal paint colour to go with something I could live with on my doors, architraving etc., It's worked out okay I guess, as we were planning on wallpapering some walls and feature walls thoughout. Soooo, so far: Ceiling /Cornice - Taubmans Cradle White Walls - Wattyl Portico Skirting / Architrave - Wattyl Portico Windows / Reveals / Frames - Wattyl Portico Doors - Wattyl Portico Window Treatments - White 63.5mm wide ECO blinds Flooring - Tiles 400mm*400mm in charcoal Carpet - Merricks 'Dorian Grey' Lighting - about a thousand downlights, some feature lighting tbc (BIL is the electrician ) Kitchen Benchtops - Caesarstone Glacier Cabinetry Island bench - Asian Nights Remainder of cupboards- Designer white Splashback- 100*400mm designer white tiles with a orange/red glass feature tile Bathroom, Laundry & Ensuite (Basically variations of the kitchen, as we weren't allowed to choose any other laminate colours ) Laundry bench and base cupboards: Asian Nights White 100*400 designer white tiles Designer white overheads Main Bathroom bench and cupboards: Asian Nights White tiled bath hob and shower walls white flat Tumbled Marble strip running along floor and through bath hob Ensuite bench top designer white cupboards and drawers- asian nights Luxor kickers for entire house My camera is NOT working, so will have to upload photos later ********************************* Meghan Re: Here we GO! MegsyG's new house! Colour Selection Done 22/4 7Apr 22, 2009 2:18 pm Hi MegsyG, Great house plan, and colours too. We have Dune for our fascia, garage door and front door and I love it. It came out more of a taupe than the light grey we expected, but still looks really nice. I really wish we'd used it on our roof now Looking forward to seeing those pics. Re: Here we GO! MegsyG's new house! Colour Selection Done 22/4 8May 21, 2009 12:38 pm Hi Meghan Nice colours and everything, i'm hoping my plans get passed today for botanic ridge, hoping to build a waverly modern in there. I think my block is just down the road for yours. Hope all goes well with construction Re: Here we GO! MegsyG's new house! Colour Selection Done 22/4 9May 21, 2009 1:13 pm Great colours - our externals are almost identical. bricks - nougat roof - dune fascia - surfmist We did our garage and front door in dune too but I wish I had done the timber stain!! Can't wait to see yours come together! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Here we GO! MegsyG's new house! Colour Selection Done 22/4 11Jun 04, 2009 12:49 pm I am such a BAD thread updater LOL We did go away to Queensland for a bit though, so that's an excuse! Anyways, we are FLYING along! Roof is on, garage bricked and electricians are booked for the rough in tomorrow! Since so much has happened since the site scrape- This is what the house looked like yesterday Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We, or I should say I had an issue with the mortar yesterday. To me, it's a LOT darker than what I wanted and was told I was getting- white sand and normal cement. DH has told me I need to let it dry out for a few weeks to see its full colour, so we'll see. Not like I can do anything about it now anyways Welcome Neighbour Scott! Where are you building? So far our experience with Waverley has been top notch- so much so that my FIL has just signed up with them to build an investment property Jellylegs- now that the roof is on, it looks good. I did have my doubts. We saw a display nearby and we basically copied the look and the roof was Dune. haywgl- your house is looking gorgeous, so I know ours will too That's it for today! No doubt I will be back at the block tomorrow with camera in hand Building a Modified Lawson Modern 29 @ Botanic Ridge, Cranbourne South, Victoria Re: Here we GO! MegsyG's new house! Colour Selection Done 22/4 12Jun 04, 2009 1:13 pm Wow that's come along quickly, it's looking great! Our mortar is just natural and it does take a few weeks to dry out properly, this damp weather doesn't help much either. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Roof is on, garage bricked! 14Jun 18, 2009 3:01 pm Hi Megzy. We are building almost across the road from you lot 268, building a modifies waverly modern, our drainage plumbing is roughed in now so hopefully slad within next week Re: Here we GO! MegsyG's new house! Roof is on, garage bricked! 15Jun 19, 2009 7:07 am How exciting Scott I do believe that LOT 268 is one we originally decided on, I'll have to check with DH So, not much has happened in 2 weeks, brickie is still at another job and when he's completed that we are next- fingers crossed X. We went to the block on the weekend and had a good look around. DS1 had to lay down in his "bed" in his "room" LOL. The other 2 were mighty peeved they missed out. LOL This is what has happened: *insulation has been installed into the walls *ducted heating thingoes have been installed to get ready for plastering soon *Some of the eaves have been fitted *I have a BATHTUB! *and my beautiful front door installed but covered up And that's it for now Building a Modified Lawson Modern 29 @ Botanic Ridge, Cranbourne South, Victoria Re: Here we GO! MegsyG's new house! Roof is on, garage bricked! 16Jun 29, 2009 5:55 pm Hi Meghan, noticed the brickies are back on yours again, thats great hopefully they get it done quickly but good for you. Hopefully our frame will be up next week. Just realised we have same colour bricks as you. Re: Here we GO! MegsyG's new house! Brickies have started! 17Jun 29, 2009 7:48 pm LMAO Seriously? We drove around heaps of estates trying to find houses that used Nougat with off white mortar, and couldn't. They're certainly not too many houses in BR that have 'em. We went past again on the weekend, brickies have started If this weather keeps up, I should have a fully bricked house by the end of next week! Building a Modified Lawson Modern 29 @ Botanic Ridge, Cranbourne South, Victoria Re: Here we GO! MegsyG's new house! Roof is on, garage bricked! 18Jun 29, 2009 7:56 pm Yeah they aint many with them around, we have a fully rendered facade so wont really see them on our place anyway, hope the weather aint as bad over the next few days Re: Here we GO! MegsyG's new house! We're locked out! 19Jul 06, 2009 2:30 pm Yay! We're locked out! Went past the house yesterday with the fellas, only to find ourselves locked out! We have bricks everywhere, the rhs and back and lhs are 75% done and they are starting on the front! And from peering through the plastic on the windows, the master bedroom, the hallway, lounge and study are all plastered! And all the ceilings Few surprises: The handle on our 1200mm pivot door is supposed to be this big, chunky stainless number and there was a teeny, tiny little bar handle more suitable for a pot drawer This will need to be changed, just hope the holes are in the same spot! And we've also discovered we have cedar cladding in the alfresco We had no idea, or had forgotten. Was a nice little bonus So, the only thing bad about being locked out- I should be expecting the ginormous invoice in the post next week And, yes, I'm a stupid-head and FORGOT the camera. Will have some photos tomorrow-ish Building a Modified Lawson Modern 29 @ Botanic Ridge, Cranbourne South, Victoria Re: Here we GO! MegsyG's new house! Plastered! 20Jul 09, 2009 12:45 pm So went back Tuesday and took some photos pf what has been done. The RHS, LHS and back of the house are done, bar the sills. Front of the house is almost there! Brickies will be finished by the end of the week Sorry about the pictures being blurry, someone has spilled somthing on the camera and it's all over the lens!
