We are still waiting for the steel frame quotes so we can make a decision as to whom we are going with so we can submit the plans to the council for a building approval... It's all going very very slowly and taking forever it seems. We are building it as owner builders (kind of) in a sense that we are managing the building process ourseves and are getting tradies and contractors to do different bits and pieces. We are still in the process of deciding on the brick colour and will have all the bricks exposed (no rendering). We are torn between the red and light colour bricks and keep changing our minds, but the time is running out and we will need to make the decision fairly soon. As if we go with a red brick there wouldn't be enough of the contrast. I'm not very good with colours though Re: gettingThere's house :) 4Apr 16, 2009 8:19 pm what about going with brick section 2 and the wooden door and roller door i like the red brick and then teh darker brik around the windows too John, Tarin and the Kids Built and moving in to the Regent Grande with Masterton homes http://thebrownsaremovingtothecountry.blogspot.com Re: gettingThere's house :) 6Apr 16, 2009 8:42 pm Déjà vu? A great album from Crosby Stills Nash & Young. On topic though - although we went for light bricks, I prefer the more traditional looking version 2 of your scheme. It seems to suit that facade. Re: gettingThere's house :) 7Apr 16, 2009 8:47 pm Thanks again JohnAndTarin So you reckon pic 2 looks the best but with a timber look garage door instead? What about the windows? White or black? I think I prefer white, it kindda makes the house look fresher but is this a valid point? :S Re: gettingThere's house :) 8Apr 16, 2009 8:52 pm what about Jasper or beige for the windows? But for some reason he thinks it would look too dark :S He reckons that if I want timber look doors we need to go for a lighter brick Re: gettingThere's house - still deciding on the brick colour.. 17Apr 18, 2009 6:38 pm Judie What about this version? (Sorry the picture is small for some reason). Judie Oh, what colour gutters would recommend? Re: gettingThere's house - still deciding on the brick colour.. 19Apr 19, 2009 8:56 pm Judie I'd match the gutters to the roof so that the brickwork is the feature.
