Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Kirsada's house - KEYS Mon, PAINTING Tues :) 847Jan 08, 2010 1:14 pm I'm BAAAACCCCKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have missed you guys sooo much and have had major withdrawals Things got crazy after we got the keys a week early, so very sorry for not posting sooner. We don't have internet at the new house, so I had to wait until I got back to work LOVING THE NEW HOUSE, but still don't feel very settled. Here's the update, and I will try and get some photos up next week. 1. Moved in 14th Dec, it took from 8am till 9pm 2. Rental cleaned poo poo poo....this job sucked and the stupid property manager still complained about little things and made me replace ALL of the flyscreens because of 1 or 2 holes. I was MAD!!! 3. Foxtel installed 15th Dec (Mr K organised this - ha ha ha his priority was foxtel) 4. Downlights installed 16th Dec - They look fantastic and I am happy to share details of electrician and lighting shop where we got them. Electrician was $30/ downlight, fittings from shop $21 (I think)/ CFL downlight (energy saving NOT halogen). The light output is perfect! 5. TV aerial done 6. Garden shed and garage door done 7. Driveway, footpath, letterbox done 8. Dishwasher bought (from Harvey Norman Seconds in Cannington) 9. Site clean done at front. NOW when the builder says they have done a site clean IT IS RUBBISH!!!!! I reckon they just dump sand on top of everything and spread it over. It looks clean, but trust me it isn't. I hated raking and removing rocks/tiles/crap etc etc in 38 degree heat!! 10. The reason for 9. LANDSCAPING!!!! Had the consultation earlier this week and it will be done early Feb YAY 11. Lastly PAINTING....oh the joys. Once we got the knack, it wasn't too bad. Bought expensive tape for the cornices, carpets etc, but it was rubbish and ripped the paint off the cornices At least we didn't tape the whole house!! We have almost finished the painting, just a few touchups to do. The colour we have is SOLVER SMOKE PEARL which is just beautiful. I would highly recommend it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My one big gripe at the moment is the damn SAND everywhere....It blows inside from our front and backyard beaches and from the rest of the estate and is driving me crazy!!!! Can't wait to read everyone's threads...I have A LOT to catch up on!!!! UPDATE Jan 8 848Jan 08, 2010 1:25 pm woohoo welcome back. I hear you on rental cleaning etc. It sucks and they always find something regardless. Glad to see you are slowly settling in. I think it will always feel a bit odd finally moving in. Go the landscaping. Pity its not done before we move in. Yes I can imagine the site clean would be a dod*gy version of it. Ughh. Kat Re: Kirsada's house - I'M BACK!! UPDATE Jan 8 849Jan 08, 2010 1:29 pm Yeah and we still haven't got the rental bond money back That is the ONLY reason I tried to clean everything so well, we need the money!!!!!! Hope you get your net on soon. we have one of those soft string x mat type brooms and it's great for collecting up all the sand grains. Ours are very big grit and stone type grains. We find it's teh easiest way to gather them up. Re: Kirsada's house - I'M BACK!! UPDATE Jan 8 852Jan 08, 2010 2:05 pm Great to hear from you Kirsada!! I was also thinking of going to a seconds store for my appliances but I only knew of Rick Hart in Ossie Park, what street is the HN store in cannington? And if you don't mind can I also have a PM of the downlight info ta? Was your landscaping very expensive?? My hubby is determined to get ours done ASAP after we move in but I'm too scared to look into it as I'm sure it will be $$$$$$$ Built "The Manor" with Ventura We have an ocean view....IF WE STAND ON OUR TIPPY TOES!! My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=24970 Re: Kirsada's house - I'M BACK!! UPDATE Jan 8 853Jan 08, 2010 2:31 pm Thanks KK! I have been using the vacuum cleaner (with a soft head attachment) and mopping alot. I will have to go to Bunnings etc and have a look around. I don't have the electrician's details with me, but I will PM you the details on Monday. Harvey Norman Seconds in on Albany Hwy next to a baby shop. I think it is somewhere near the manning road intersection We got a stainless steel, freestanding (no need to attach to bench) Bosch for $1000 that was $1700! Our landscaping is part of the package we got from the land developers!!! We are changing the turf though as I hate Wintergreen. I bet it would cost alot! UPDATE Jan 8 854Jan 08, 2010 3:52 pm yup kirsada we use to use our vac all the time when we had slate. works well on a hard surface. not sure if you avae tiles or wood/laminate or vinyl. For wood/laminate etc I was worried the head of the vac might scratch if it got sand particles on it. ( we have cork so soft also) Oo lucky you with a landscape package. I bet you can't wait.
