None of them have played up again. The new home feeling won't wash off for months! Brit we have the exact same issue with the toilet in the powder room! Did you contact Caroma directly or via the builder? We advised the builder but if it will be faster via Caroma, I am ready to pick up the phone When you changed the linen cupboard in the laundry to a broom cupboard, did you get a credit for it? I am just contemplating as we contacted the builder yesterday who contacted Stegbar on our behalf, the stegbar workman is suppose to come by and install the shelves. But i am in a quandry on where I would store the vaccum hose, brooms and mops once that is done. Maybe I should leave it as it is decisions ...decisions! but it's all good now that we are finally in our home. Every morning, i wake up and cant believe my eyes. It feels like a dream. Can't believe the moment we have been waiting for since we purchased the land back in Nov 2007 has finally arrived. The waiting & all the rest of the building drama was so worth it Re: NBG Buckingham- We have the Keys ! 325Oct 20, 2009 8:43 am TheAlbany I sure have been following your thread. The broom cupboard is great but you could always use your garage I suppose. We have a linen going into the powder room which I assume you have too. Our vacuum cleaner lives upstairs so wish we had a broom cupboard up there too somewhere - it doesn't quite fit in the bottom of the linen. Fi has moved in!! Re: NBG Buckingham- We have the Keys ! 327Oct 20, 2009 1:36 pm Thanks Brit, we do have the linen cupboard with shelves beside the powder room. But with our family storage is never enough The childrens toys alone Dh is getting shelving put up in the garage and we're prolly going to purchase a broom/mop holder that looks something like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: NBG Buckingham- We have the Keys ! 328Oct 20, 2009 1:50 pm Just a bit of an update. It now works a treat.. the bubbling water is sooo inviting. The plumber also fixed the toilet in the powder room, just shook something a little (dh watched him) and explained that particles were stuck and needed to be shakes out, the water no longer runs after each flush. The Evap Cooling & Heating people called to reschedule their visit to today. So will keep you posted. I am currently having colourbond moments with our new fence & gate Dh is on the way to the rental to mow the lawn. The carpets will also be steam cleaned today. Hopefully the rental is sorted today so we can hand over the keys & get on with the rest of the things which need to be done at home. Abbey_aj Glad to hear that everythine is going well, and that the issues that needed to fixed were dealt with promptly. Once you get a little more settled please share some pics of your new fence and of course the ideas for landscaping Believe me Abbey when I say I was concerned about anyone showing up to do anything. But my concerns were unfounded. Stegbar called yesterday to say they will be coming by to put the shelves in the laundry linen cupboard on Monday. The Evap/Hetaing guy came by yesterday and the Evap cooling is working very nicely. We also pointed out that when we're hetaing both zones, our masterbedroom still remains a little chilly. When we up the temperature so that the masterbedroom (MB) feels nicer, the ground floor & minor bedrooms get super hot. The guy had a look at our heating vent and told us that the wrong size had been fitted in the MB. Apparently because the MB is the biggest room in the house (not to mention that it leads to a doorless tiled ensuite & WIR which makes it an even larger space to heat), the larger vent was supposed to be installed. He will therefore, be getting the vent replaced. Thank God all concerns raised were addressed speedily. Re: NBG Buckingham- We have the Keys ! 333Oct 28, 2009 10:24 pm Hi Blessed how are things going? hope you have settled in nicely ! r u still on cloud 9? i love the look of your house love the colors, love the bagging - need photos of fully furnished.. ( wont nag to much as i dont have any photos ) lol we are progressing nicely... the tiler finished today ! WHAT AN EXCELLENT JOB - NO COMPLAINTS FANTASTIC PEOPLE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Plumbers & sparkies booked for wednesday after melb cup WOO HOO !! Builder is pushing for handover last week in November .... cant believe it !!!! it feels like a life time .... but omg its just around the cnr. My husband said once we move in he is not leaving the house ( apart from work ) " if anyone wants to see us they can come here" Have a fantastic long weekend, Rosa Re: NBG Buckingham- We have the Keys ! 334Oct 29, 2009 9:00 am haha Rosa, i have the same thoughts as your husband! Yes we are still on cloud 9. Everytime I walk int the house and put stuff away etc i still cant believe my eyes. The buckingham is a gorgeous floorplan and suits our family perfectly. I love the wide open spaces. Our builder's tilers were phenomenal as well. Not a single tile is out of place neither is there any grout with a different colour...my dad was so impressed by how well laid the tiles were that he commented that it almost looked like laminate cause everything was in perfect symmetry. The Brickies were also phenomenal. All mortar and bricks perfectly allign even in hard to reach spaces like our garage which shares the boundary with our neighbour's garage. On the downside, the painters could have done a better job. And the plumber with the spa dramas & toilets could have also done better. However, those issues are now fixed so its all good. Would have been better if they did it right the first time though Good to hear you're on the final leg...your progress has been unbelievable! Can't believe you commenced this year and finished in the same year. Very very pleased for you. I haven't taken any photos of the house since we moved in. I will try to get to it this weekend...hopefully....maybe.....hmmmm Re: NBG Buckingham- Frontyard (Picture Fest) 335Dec 01, 2009 11:21 am After the longest silence...i finally have some photos of the start of our landscaping. Everything is being done "in house" (meaning dh, 3 children & yours truly). Dh planned the entire layout etc and we got to work. We have just done the basic and are planning to do a bit more after summer as we didnt want the excessive heat killing our new plants.
I apologise in advance was the picture heavy post First the area had to be levelled and all rock & construction debris etc removed Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Then dh cordoned off the areas with timber we purchased at Bunnings. Next we laid the drought resistant Yucca plant out in a row so we could determine their alignment & location Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Then dh dug holes for the yuccas. We all tried to help but it was tiring and we were getting no where. So dh dug all of them while we cheered him on. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Once the holes were dug, each yucca was placed into its home (we removed the pots first) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Dh then placed weedmats all around the perimeter before planting the yuccas with potting mix and then placing the pebbles over. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Dh spread the balance mulch out. However, you would notice that we still have a bit on the nature strip which will need to be transferred as well Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Mulch is now done safe for the couple of buckets on the nature strip. Next on the agenda was the Tuscan pebbles to be placed along the front strip. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ahhh that’s better Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We have a little of tuscan leftover which we will be placing between the colourbond side gate and second driveway as a demarcation. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We also placed some pebbles along the boundary Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ What do you think? Can’t believe dh got this done in 3 days !!! We are extremely proud of him Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The yuccas look rather small but in actual fact are about half a metre in height. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hmmm water tap in a sea of red mulch… Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Another shot….yup our neighbour’s build is progressing well Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So what is your verdict…does it look professionally done 2% left to complete is the balance tuscan to be moved to second driveway and the balance red mulch to be scraped up and placed near the tap… Thank you for following us on our journey Re: NBG Buckingham - Frontyard (**Picture Fest**) 336Dec 01, 2009 12:51 pm Wow Blessedpeople, your front yard looks absolutely gorgeous. Thank you Lizzy, just that few days of work transformed the area from looking like a construction site to an occupied house Jose27 Hey blessedpeople, Definitely looks like a professional has done it. BIG pat on the back for DH and a beer or two. Looks fantastic. Are you planting more plants in the mulch? If so, what kind of plants? Keep up the great work! Jose, you are too kind. But yes dh did a fantastic job. We're considering planting 1 or 2 weeping cherries in the mulch area but it has to be after Summer or we're not sure it would survive particularly because we may be having a holiday or 2. The person at the nrusery assured us that the yuccas would do fine without watering as long as we cared for it the first week after planting them in the ground. We basically placed the red mulch as a temporary measure. Once the trees go in, the red mulch wont be much good as they don't hold water very well, just looks prettier. Unfortunately where mulch is concerned, the uglier it is, the better it serves the plants Re: NBG Buckingham - Frontyard (**Picture Fest**) 339Dec 30, 2009 2:57 pm MERRY CHRISTMAS BLESSED WOW!!!!!!
