At long last, we will be getting the keys to our new house this Friday. It feel like its been forever in the making so we are relieved and very excited to get out of this rented shoe box and into our new home and finally unpack all our stuff that has been stored for the last 18 months.
We have had a very mixed experience with our builder (NBG). All started well, found the floor plan we felt was best of us, all went fine with contracts, slight delay getting the permits on the builders behalf, off to a flying start and got to look up in less than 3 months. It then to 5.5 months to do the completion and our builder believes he only need to pay damages until the occupancy permit was issued (early March) so we will take him to VCAT to sort that out. His communication and project management was poor beyond belief and head office couldn't have cared less.
I plan to live in this house forever- well maybe not but after moving house about a dozen times in the last 10 years including interstate and overseas and now with 2 kids in tow, I just couldn't image what would drive me to it (other than the big lottery win!)
I've learnt a lot from this experience and these boards have been brilliant - so thank you to all!
But I am soooooo happy to close this chapter of my life and get on with enjoying our new home- hide and seek with the kids is going to rock
