Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 13, 2009 8:22 pm Hi all, Does anyone know what will actually be provided if your contract includes "dishwasher provisioning"? I have this clause in my contract but my builder is telling me that I will need to get a plumber to install my dishwasher which will cost approximately $150. I thought dishwasher provisioning is similar to washing machine provisioning. When I move the washing machine into the house, I just need to "plug and play". Some will have a space for the dishwasher, some builders will put a door in that can be removed. The provisions are: - a cold water tap under the sink, - a power point ready to connect to, and - often the holes are drilled out ready for you to 'plug n play' (as you say). $150 to install the diswasher is about right and is a cheap insurance policy, 'cause if you install it and get it wrong you may have any insurance claims reduced or refused as the installation was not by a qualified person (unless you are qualified, of course ) John John, Tarin and the Kids Built and moving in to the Regent Grande with Masterton homes http://thebrownsaremovingtothecountry.blogspot.com Re: What does dishwasher provisioning means? 5Apr 13, 2009 9:21 pm yes how would you feel coming home & finding your kitchen flooded. Also your dishwasher warranty will be void as it wasn't installed by a licensed plumber. Also the word provision is ( make allowance for) $150.00 would be the builders price which is 20% on top of the trades price. You could probably ask the plumber to install the dishwasher when he is on site when he installs your other appliances. Ask your building supervisor for the trades telephone number. He will probably do it cheaper if it's at the time when he is there doing other work. It costs more if he has to come back to do it. I am installing a new Bosch SMU4HTS01A built under dushwasher.
