Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 13, 2009 6:35 pm Hi! I am a new user and am hoping to find some advice and guidance during our building process. We signed our contract with Rendition Homes on the 21 February (7 weeks ago) and had a planning drawing review meeting on the 22 March (3 weeks ago) where we made some final amendments. We are just waiting for the pricing requests to come through, then the planning drawing variations. How long does it take on average to have plans approved by council? If the plans get to council by mid-May, do you think we could expect footings to be prepared by July / August or is that being too optimistic? FYI - We are building in Charleson Rise, Happy Valley. Thanks Re: HOW LONG FOR COUNCIL APPROVAL? 2Apr 13, 2009 8:17 pm Welcome Shanna to H1. As the previous poster said, varies from council to council. We are in the Hunter Valley NSW, & took 5 & 1/2 mths. Another friend of ours has had their plans into the same council for 8 mths. Good luck with the build. Life's too short too drink bad wine Re: HOW LONG FOR COUNCIL APPROVAL? 3Apr 14, 2009 11:22 am Many councils are trying to push them through asap due to the FHOG. We put ours in on the 19th december 08 and had it out on 2nd week january . So they were quick !!! especially due to xmas break aswell. Crossed fingers your council isnt very busy atm Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! Now tackling the HUGE task of the Garden- viewtopic.php?f=31&t=14782 Re: HOW LONG FOR COUNCIL APPROVAL? 4Apr 14, 2009 11:34 am Some builders now get their building permits through private companies. Mine was quoted 2-4 weeks but only took 1 week. Just ask your builder how long after approval would they expect to be on site. My company were ready to start on site as soon as the permit was issued. Good luck. Re: HOW LONG FOR COUNCIL APPROVAL? 5Apr 14, 2009 7:03 pm Hi Shanna, I too am building in the Onkaparinga Council area, and am just about ready to start building. The time in council was a ridiculous 14 weeks. I called twice to see where the application was at, and was told each time the council has 12 weeks to approve. Of course this was over christmas, but I don't think this added a huge amount of time. I would count on 12 weeks, and be pleasantly surprised if it comes in quicker. Re: HOW LONG FOR COUNCIL APPROVAL? 6Apr 15, 2009 11:30 pm Hi Shanna We are also building in Rendition Homes in SA! Our plans went to council back in late January and we are still waiting for approval. Have been told it will be in the next week or so. Still waiting for pricing from Rendition. Apparently they won't have pricing for us until the Council Approval has gone through. Which is frustrating as we are extremely anxious about the price!!! Otherwise Rendition have been great and the Mt Barker Council are very helpful with enquiries. We ring from time to time to see what's happening. Which house are you building? We're building the Oxford with a rendered facade and a few minor changes to the floorplan. Good luck! Hi Minho I have heaps of experience in Ku-ring-gai with both DAs and CDC ( this is the main area we build in). DA's are taking 12-18months and CDC's we have been doing… 1 3162 1 2988 Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11035 |
