Browse Forums Building A New House Re: BELLAHAVEN HOMES 2Sep 07, 2009 11:03 am Just signed with them to build. What has been your experience with them ? Went to their regitered office address ( non-existant or closed as could not find any sign of it, was a small shopping centre ) Cheers Pheonix Re: BELLAHAVEN HOMES 3Sep 07, 2009 12:15 pm I gave them a try about 5 months ago. Visited the display village in Melton. The sales guy there was like a used car salesman (ie. straight away doing me a few 'favours', special deals). The display home was simple. It had no furniture just the base fitout the builder includes. I liked that part. It could be the salesman didn't fit the builder. I didn't get a bad vibe from the builder when I spoke to him. I asked for a few changes back before it got really busy and had to chase them up for answers. Eventually I figured if they were serious they would contact me, they didn't. Not much to go on qwerty. They don't have a website, couldn't find out if they were HIA accredited and I couldn't find any reviews of their work. They had one good home design, a very affordable 4 bedroom 2 living area home but only 23 squares, it would have to be a little cramped. That was their bread and butter, other house designs cost extra per square because they didn't build so many of them. Come to think of it. I believe my new neighbour where I'm building is building that 4bdr home with bellahaven. They won't start building for at least a month. I can update you then if you like. Gravity. Its the law. The estate agent told me a few people where going with bellahaven. The estate agent was putting them onto the builder. My neighbour however went with a different builder, I saw their sign on the weekend. Possibly others are building with bellhaven. I'll take a look at the signs up next time I visit. Gravity. It has been such a headache chasing them cause they never call you to tell you were there at they keep saying that they are so busy with other clients well nice to know who's really important. We just have to wait and see if they come through with the goods soon. Re: BELLAHAVEN HOMES 7Oct 21, 2009 7:51 am Last time I looked around my estate there were no Bellahaven signs. Maybe the estate agent was talking crap about so many people building with them. Or perhaps they're experiencing the same delay you are. I'll keep an eye out. The land settled end of August. Gravity. Never update the customer on the current status of the house 2. Ask to process the payment claim before completing the work 3. False commitments 4. Extremely rude with customer once the contract is signed We signed contract with them in April 2009 and still waiting for the house to be handed over. Not one, two or three they have given five dates to us for the handover however house is still not ready. There are some major problem with their building & five star ratings. Even color of render is different from what we selected. We are taking help of lawyer and professional inspector to get a check on building. Re: BELLAHAVEN HOMES 9Feb 06, 2011 3:13 pm I would have to disagree with you there, Bella Haven Homes built our home in Baccush Marsh early last year... I'm so happy we built with them - Best builder we have built with.. (and we have gone through this process 3 times before) - From meeting them to completion date just under 14 months but it was a quite large home so we were happy - The quality of there homes is what separates them from the rest, when I went to Eynesbury to have a look at the displays you can see the difference between Bella haven and the rest of the displays. You know how hard it was to find a builder that dosn't build on a waffle slab, to this day I have recomended Bella Haven and will continue to do so... Re: BELLAHAVEN HOMES 10May 26, 2011 7:01 pm Hi Guys Just an update since my post from signing the contract guess what we still are waiting for the house to be handed over they just seem to work on the house one day a week. They never have contacted us on updates. Getting Legal advise now. Re: BELLAHAVEN HOMES 11May 26, 2011 9:26 pm Thank god we some one else is having the same problems as us, it has become ridiculous they are happy to take your money but not in anyway will they return your calls or help you in any way we signed contacts over a year ago and the house has just began. Its true they rang us and asked us for the money before the invoice was due and advised us that the slab had been finished when I was standing on the block and there was no slab there. I would never recommend this company unles things change dramatically. Re: BELLAHAVEN HOMES 12Sep 07, 2011 11:37 am Don't build with them. I have had the same problems as you guys have. It is an ongoing battle that you cant win. The amount of stress that you go through isn't worth it. Never Ever Again!... I have spoken to other people that have built with Bella Haven Homes and the horror stories i have herd are disgraceful. I cant believe they can still continue building and ripping people off. I wish i had of found this forum before i signed up to living 18 months of hell that's still continuing....... Re: BELLAHAVEN HOMES 13Oct 12, 2011 10:58 am We built our first house with BellaHaven homes approx 5 years ago now. We had problems throughout the build process and went through 3 supervisors but we were happy with the end result at hand over. We started having problems with quality after about 2-3 years, cracking plaster in roof and walls, doors jamming and needing to be shaved to free them up, nails lifting in architraves, mirrors rusting from behind because they weren't sealed around the edges, render staining from something leaking out from bricks and cracks in multiple places in front façade. If you had asked me in the first 12 months I would have probably recommended them but now I'm telling people to stay away from them. When we contacted them to try and get everything fixed, we were told it was outside of the warranty period for defects and now only structural defects were covered. They didn't even come out to see if it was a structural issue causing the cracks in the render or the doors jamming. Re: BELLAHAVEN HOMES 14Nov 03, 2011 11:38 am hi there...we are going through so much with them right now..it is the worst experience ever! they are a disgrace...Its been a 1 yr and 6 months since they started building our house and is yet to be completed and with many errors along the way! ... Can someone please advise me where we can go from here as complaining directly to Mr Peter Hall has given us nothing..nobody from there has been kind enough to acknowledge the complain, not even a simple phone call...we are up to 3 or 4 supervisors and they keep blaming previous staff members...no one seems to be taking any responsibility at all!!!...someone out there please help, what have you done to get the issues resolved? Re: BELLAHAVEN HOMES 15Nov 29, 2011 9:35 pm Its the same story over and over again, Everyone that Builds with them regrets it. I don't know how they can sleep at night the way they treat paying customers. The amount of stress you go through building with this company definitely isn't worth it. They know every trick in the book that's for sure. Don't Build With Them!!! Re: BELLAHAVEN HOMES 17Jan 25, 2012 4:02 pm I signed a contract with bella haven homes in feb 2008 It took us 9 months to get settlement and a furthur 1 1/2 years to get to completion. we have had issues at every stage and had the run around every time I complained. We have had the issues raised with The building commission and are awaiting a answer from VCAT The matter has gone that far. I had 50 issues that were raise after the PCI walkthrough was done. Maybe 20% have been addressed. I believe We need as many people to let consumer affairs know of there issues and maybe that will help in other cases and help your own cases in the future Re: BELLAHAVEN HOMES 18Mar 12, 2012 8:30 pm Only way i can see to resolve issues with these people is for everyone to bombard their office constantly. I've been to consumer Affairs Today Tonite Current Affair Master Builders, all of no use whatsoever, same b/s from all just because they say it only effects one person not good enough to persue. Seriously considering good old testament justice. Re: BELLAHAVEN HOMES 20Mar 14, 2012 7:20 pm I can't believe Bellahaven are still an issue for people, how do businesses like this continue to operate with such poor customer service skills and a bad track record of meeting their deadlines? I was very close to building with them and pulled out of signing the contracts after having so much trouble just trying to get to that stage, however they did still 'spend' the deposit which was meant to be in a trust fund - funny how they could access money that was supposed to be inaccessible.. Please do not consider committing your hard earned money to them no matter how much they promise you, you may be waiting years to move into your home as those in charge go missing for months on end and those left running the show have a serious inability to return phone calls. If you have to chase them to try to build with them then that should say enough about the way you will be treated once they have you locked in. So glad I didn't go ahead with them, their finish quality is average and even after you finally get your keys you run the risk of having to chase them again to get things fixed. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 76785 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 107386 Hi there!
