Wish we had the option to build wide, but finding a block in the melbourne suburbs that wide (within budget) is pretty hard. I like the idea of the basin outside the bathroom.. Means you can use the toilet while someone is having a shower and wash your hands without going into the bathroom. Handy idea. Havent seen that before (unless as an extra basin) but could work. Im not sure how much formal dining you do, but perhaps to open it up a bit you could remove the wall between the kitchen and the formal dining and just have a U shaped bench etc? Not sure how it would work but it might allow you to open that formal dining room up a bit. Although its a decent sized room, it might feel a bit detatched from the rest of the house.
