Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 08, 2009 8:04 pm People have told me that we should water our pad every day (makes the cement hard or something!). Is this correct? Does everyone else do it? Would be a bit of schlep to have to take my hosepipe down to the plot and find attachments! Built the Driftwood with C*ollier Homes Moved in 8 November 2009 Slowly getting organised ..... Re: Watering the pad 3Apr 10, 2009 8:59 am Not necessarily true.. Watering the slab has two possible downsides... The first is a powedery top layer... This is generally if it's wetted in the first 72 hours and when watered in a hot climate... The second is the "shock" factor.... What temperature is the water? Generally the water you put onthe slab will be much cooler than the slab itself, and hence cause "shock" to the slab... You can flood the slab... OR cover it with hessian, and plastic to hold the moisture... Best talk to your contractor... Electrical Engineer... Don't hold that against me... And keen owner builder... Mainly the building part!! |
