Not a silly question Our builder got their own inspection done before the slab was laid. Apparently the council come out and check all the footings etc. We didnt get an independent one done at this stage. We are now currently waiting for our frame to be put up. After suggestions from other homeone members, I will be getting an inspection at pre-plaster stage eg all roof, bricks, frame and electrical witing done and then again pre-handover. Post us some pics when Slab is laid. We love pics Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! After going through some of old thread...we think a pre-plaster and pre handover inspection is a must....would appreciate if some one can provide some names and contact. thanks. Re: Building Inspector for Brisbane 6Apr 09, 2009 6:19 pm As referred to by another - I have recommended www.marlee.com.au previously (the guy is Lee). They were great service - though my husband organised it all. Everything our inspector wrote in the report was taken very seriously by our builder & all, I believe is fixed. We have been in our house 4 months now & no issues. We are thinking about getting them back for the 6 month check up. We only got a final inspection survey - not all the way though... so can't comment on that service. I'm in brisbane north - but I believe Lee goes all over Brisbane. Hope that helps. Let us know how you get on! Louise. Re: Building Inspector for Brisbane 7Apr 14, 2009 12:38 pm Hi, we are also building in Brisbane and are in desperate need of an Independent Building Inspector. I spoke to Lee just after the slab stage and he informed me he was moving out of brisbane in April so probably wont be able to help with the inspection then. Anyone got any ideas? We are at the fix-out stage and so far have not had any issues with the builder, Clarendon. We also haven't had an inspections done to date Most people that have built in the past suggested we get someone in at this stage as most issues happend around then. So any help is appreciated. Cheers Moe Re: Building Inspector for Brisbane 8Apr 14, 2009 6:17 pm Oh no - I will have to remember to stop referring to Lee then... that is no good. Did Lee recommend anyone else? Otherwise - the only options are door knocking in a newly established area to get referrals, or go pot luck with the yellow pages. Though - my husband is a gem at finding the best services via the yellow pages & a really good chat! Finds the perfect person everytime! btw - we didn't get an independent inspection until the end. But my husband is a building teacher & picked up heaps himself during the process. (though not recommending this for all) Don't be afraid to point out / ask about stuff - and if it doesn't look right - so something straight away. We had framing issues with windows not being aligned in a room, cut outs not square, feature tiling uneven, etc. All picked up ourselves & promptly fixed by builder. If you let them know while the tradie is still around - they fix it quick... rather than having to try and get them back at the end. (sorry for the rave) Re: Building Inspector for Brisbane 9Apr 14, 2009 8:21 pm Sorry to hijack, but to those of you that have used Building Inspectors, how much do they charge? Also do you pay for each stage they do an inspection for or is it a fixed fee for the entire build? Re: Building Inspector for Brisbane 10Apr 15, 2009 1:20 pm Thanks Louise4499. I never thought of the knocking on doors for ref and think I will try it. Lee did not recommend anyone at the time, I did say I would call him back when it got to the fix out stage so if I get anything will post details....in the meantime still looking.... Re: Building Inspector for Brisbane 11Apr 16, 2009 5:28 pm I've contacted Lee and he is also not doing the Brisbane area..we are in Cleveland. Anyway one has more references that we can try? its good the rain finally stopped so we had our Drainer in today and hopefully we can have the slab in the next couple of weeks. Re: Building Inspector for Brisbane 12Apr 16, 2009 7:52 pm I found this on an older post: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4389&p=33954&hilit=building+inspector+brisbane#p33954 Hope its useful Building the 22sq Ashton Re: Building Inspector for Brisbane 13Apr 24, 2009 10:54 am Thanks for the link Jolie. I have spoken to Wayne from the BCA Group and he seems clued in. Details are http://www.bcagroupqld.com.au/index.php We are near practical completion. Will be meeting with the SS on Monday to get a timeline on completion. I would send it to the certifier who is technically your representative and working on your behalf not the builder's 1 2273 I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 45553 Adam Baines Grad Cert Bldg Surv / Grad Dip Bldg Surv / MSAAPA Accredited Building Professional APB20210035 Builders Lic 183023 Pest Control Lic 84868 Ph 0412202336 PO… 3 46836 |
