Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 07, 2009 10:43 pm Hi All, I need some help with our soil test report. Our site is classified as "P in accordance with AS2870-1996 due to fill". However, under footing recommendations it says "a waffle footing system suitable to a H site classification (385mm overall depth, 300mm boxes, 85mm slab) may be appropriate for articulated brick veneer dwellings (waffle on pierss), 450mm diameter bored piers founded 600mm into the silt clay" I am confused. Does that mean I need a H or P slab? Karma - what goes around comes around sooner or later...... Re: Help needed - Does anyone know how to read soil test report? 2Apr 07, 2009 10:46 pm Your site is P. Your slab is H. A P site means anything unusual, in your case fill. We have a P site because we have trees, but our slab is M. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Do you have any slope? I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Most builder's cover 300mm of fall, anything above this will cost extra. Have you seen a contour report of your block? I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Help needed - Does anyone know how to read soil test report? 8Apr 07, 2009 11:13 pm Should be one in your land contract. Then your builder will do one. That will show the fall. Has your builder provided you with a breakdown of costs? I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself.
