Had to pay $760 for an upgrade, and have now realised that I want to have security screen doors, so my upgrade has been wasted money ... unless I find a screen door that is quite see-through, so that you can still see my lovely wooden doors. We will be having that same fence! Just need to decide which colour render to do in between the slats...Dune or Jasper Can't wait to see your gorgeous home come together My karma ran over your dogma Re: Facade colours chosen..nearly at pre start...images attached 23Apr 09, 2009 9:56 am Thanks Bel, it will be great to see it all come together after so many false starts. Yeah I am very happy DH agreed to go with it....he was very its all or nothing to start with but I slowly made him think it was his idea to do just the front as we were never going to do all.......Its funny watching DH's have little tanties that they don't realise they are having Re: Facade colours chosen..nearly at pre start...images attached 24Apr 10, 2009 10:05 pm PK, Your facade looks great, and nice exterior colours too! I just love the stained timber and timber-look garage combo... and it will look better because of your fence! Sorry if you have mentioned it before, but who's your builder? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Facade colours chosen..nearly at pre start...images attached 25Apr 11, 2009 11:00 am Hi VJ, Thanks for your thoughts and don't worry I don't think I have mentioned before that my builder is part of the Alc0ck brown neaves group.....called A..P..G, I beleive they have just bought out a couple of the builders in Vic.....very big group with lots of buying power....... We have actually built with them before and we were very happy with them. We are still to see if they are as good now that they are a part of a bigger group. Re: UPdate for build....If you don't ask you don't get!!! 26Apr 28, 2009 10:02 pm Hi Guys, I just wanted to post a quick update on the build......... We have had our contracts for the last 2 weeks but there were still a few outstanding questions and we were not prepared to go any further until every last i had been dotted. So we spoke with our Sales Rep and DH expressed his concern over the rediculous price they were going to charge us for our bi fold doors.....nearly $10k , the walls and render for the meter box an extra $500 because we wanted the pipes concealed in the wall.....trying to neaten this area up as it is near the front porch( Ugly meter box's ) and they were going to charge us for having to drop our garage footings 500mm that was about $1500. After we had suggested we thought there charges were over the top and also aknowledged that builder do have a mark up and we respect that as thats the reason they are in business and don't go out of business. Anyway at the end of this we had $2000 knocked off the overall sum of these 3 outstanding things and I think this was a very happy small win for the little guy. So off to the security people this weekend to get the plan done for the system and then on monday we can book in prestart....Yay I have to tell you DH's email heading to me when he was advised of this reduction was "He who speaks loudest gets stuff done" he thought there was some sort of quote out there that went like this....... He's not always a smart man but he can lift heavy things. (kidding honey if you read this ) ........and can I just add all this and we are moving house on Friday after the 3 days of painting and building wardrobes of our little renovator. My diary has never been so full...... Re: building update...If you don't ask you don't get!!! 27Apr 28, 2009 10:07 pm YAY for the little guy!!!! Glad you had a win! We were charged about $1700 to drop our (extended) garage floor, too, so yours doesn't seem too bad!! Sounds like you have a mad week ahead of you - hope it goes well....can't wait to see this one go up!!! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: building update...If you don't ask you don't get!!! 29May 24, 2009 2:44 pm Hi Guys, a quick update on the build. We finally had prestart on Friday and that means possibly only another 6 weeks until slab down. We have changed a few colour decisions and have asked to upgrade around 10 things(taps, stairs, basins, tiling, electrical etc).....once the pricing comes back we will make a firm decision. The electrical will be the killer....to change out the bayonet lights downstairs to downlights is $180 per light and we have to supply them. I know!!! So we allowed $5000 for cosmetic upgrades and $5000 for electrical upgrades (lighting)but when your dad is a sparky its very hard to swallow, and it has to be done as they get inset into the slab........Oh well, swings and roundabouts hey! So here are the new cabinet colours. I think I am about to start the TWAS (TAUPE & WHITE APPRECIATION SOCIETY). I have decided on a beautiful new bamboo product for our floors aswell. and no the blue carpet is not one of the choices So we have the wall colour and skirtings colour...and you can see the bench chinchilla essa stone, White cabinets and Smokey Sapelle for the overheads, the green/gold glass splashback, Bamboo wood floors and our wet area tile that will be used throughout http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/P5210737.jpg Laundry Magma and white cabinets http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/P5210751.jpg Bathroom Tunisian Stone diamond gloss and white http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/P5210747.jpg the ensuite will be the same Smokey Sapelle for the cupboard and polar white diamond gloss for the bench top and our tiles will be our splashback floor and wall tiles. I am very happy with the paint colour with these selections and I am glad we have been able to live with the colour before choosing the paint colours. Re: Building update..Prestart done...Selections finshed..I think 30May 24, 2009 3:07 pm Ok, apart from the fact that I'm really, really disappointed in your inability to incorporate blue carpet somewhere , it all looks loverrly! I am having Smoky Sapelle for all of my vanities (ensuite, bathroom, powder room). I don't know about you but it just sounds sexy to me! I'm a lover of all things charcoal, dark and dramatic, but would like to be an honourary member of TWAS! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Building update..Prestart done...Selections finshed..I think 31May 24, 2009 8:30 pm If I incorporate the blue crapet it would mean painting the walls yellow and I am not sure if I could stop just at those colour choices and people would just get jealous of all my bold and beautiful colour choices...... I love saying Smokey.......Sapp elle(as in the great boogey boarder shappelle) not saple like apple it definately sounds muche sexier. Sexy laminex who would have thought. ..........and welcome to TWAS........you will probably get an imaginary inaugeration pin in the mail but keep in mind it won't be in an envelope so it could go unnoticed. Re: Building update..Prestart done...Selections finshed..I think 32May 24, 2009 8:37 pm 6 weeks will go fast. though not fast enough I imagine. Congrats on making it through prestart. I am betting the sparkie in your family reeled in horror at the lovely electrical charges. or haven't you dared tell him. Still nothing you can do with the flooring. It will look lovely . Great choices. I look forward to watching your new house get under way. I've no intention of leaving the forum for a while. So now. to keep your mind off things..... how goes the reno on the investment place? When's the next lot of pics?. ( well future investment place that is) Re: Building update..Prestart done...Selections finshed..I think 33May 24, 2009 9:02 pm Oh PK I am LOVING your colour selections. Can I also get one of those pins in the mail pls, and agree that Smoky Sappelle is one sexy name for a laminex colour... (gosh it IS like Schappelle isn't it hope that doesn't put me off the colour now ) The kitchen splashback looks green to me but you have described it as green/gold, how is it so? The bambo floor looks gorgeous too, I'm so excited for you! Re: Building update..Prestart done...Selections finshed..I think 34May 24, 2009 9:45 pm Hi Kk, I am hoping the 6 weeks goes extremely fast but we really do have other projects on the go so we are able to keep our minds off the build a bit. Did you see the bedrooms from the reno that I posted? That was my last post about the reno, we have tackled the lounge/dining today but no painting until next week. Donuts I am posting the TWAS pin in mind right now. The splashback colour I am posting now so you can have a look but on the glass sample, I think its the sparkle that makes it look a bit goldy. I am extremely excited about the bamboo and the splashback. Fingers Crossed Re: Building update..Prestart done...Selections finshed..I think 37May 24, 2009 11:32 pm gweluphome If I incorporate the blue crapet it would mean painting the walls yellow... Hehe, I have "CRAPet" in my current house, including the black iron-shaped burn mark in the exact centre of said "crapet" in the livingroom. I can't wait to have proper CARPet in my new house! Beautiful choices! I can't wait to see them start to go in your house! My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: Building update..Prestart done...Selections finshed..I think 38May 25, 2009 11:01 am Thanks Annie, I am slowly getting used to the crapet would you believe or possibly just blocking it out of my vision bank. I am still feeling like its never going to aventuate but I am sure I will appreciate it when it arrives...my choices going into a home I mean. Re: Building update..Prestart done...Selections finshed..I think 39May 25, 2009 3:57 pm Count me in as a member of TWAS. Colours all look gorgeous. I drive past your block all the time as it is on our way to the out-laws who live in Balcatta. Will be great to watch the progress. We are still waiting on ESSAstone, everything else has been done and ready for handover except for things related to the benchtops - ie sinks and plumbing and final electricals. So frustrating... Re: Building update..Prestart done...Selections finshed..I think 40Jul 13, 2009 9:49 pm So....here we are, a little more stressed and a little bit closer to actually building. I never thought it would come and let me say I am still holding my breath as we are not there yet, but very close. We have had a few dramas re owner supplied goods. As you may or may not know we have our own cabinet maker for our cabinets.....no way a cabinetmaker doing cabinets who would have thought. We were not given the very long list of stipulations that our cabinetmaker has to abide by which we were not made aware of 7 months ago when we first started this process and we are at the pointy end of the start and they spring all these requirements. Let me say they are all fair enough but we were not made aware and if our CM had not agreed to abide by their rules we would have had to walk away. All this after we made our 1st major payment aswell. Anyway we are about 10 days away from slab down and then we will be off and running. I still can't believe its going to be real. Below are our cabinet designs. We considered everything(we think) and even our pre-start rep questioned some of our ideas but you can't mess with a highly thought over plan and we have had plenty of time to think all these ideas over. http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/ENSUITE.jpg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/ISLAND.jpghttp://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/lAUNDRY.jpg So thats our update and I am hoping I will be updating this thread in 10 -15 days time with a pic of our slab....the count down is on.
