Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building update..Prestart done..Are we there yet! 41Jul 13, 2009 8:53 pm Fantastic PK!! I'm so excited for the start of your build, it is one I will follow with great interest!!! Kitchen plans look great, can't wait to see the colours go in! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Building update..Prestart done..Are we there yet! 42Jul 14, 2009 9:59 am Thanks Bel, It feels like its been going on for so long now. I can't wait to see something happen on the piece of dirt. Re: Building update..Prestart done..Are we there yet! 44Aug 18, 2009 9:54 am OK FINALLY its real. We are actually building a house on our block. After a few arguments with the builder....sorry disagreements about inlcuded items that we were charged twice for. We can't expect salespeople of homes to actually homd builders tickets and understand all things building. Luckily we kept the paper trail of emails that proved it was us in the right and them with a "miscommunication". Anyway another $5000 down the track and we have the essential and very expensive retaining wall. But oh how our wall will look fantastic. We have to have that attitude or we would not be moving forward. http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/P8010855.jpg http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/P8010853.jpg We are currently waiting for the bricks to arrive and luckily we have had some rain while the slab has been curing for that little added extra. Hopefully the rain finishes soon and when the bricks arrive its full steam ahead, fingers crossed anyway. Re: Building update..we have a slab and retaining.....finally 45Aug 18, 2009 9:55 am oops I forgot to say yes we have a slab aswell just no photo yet. Re: Building update..Prestart done..Are we there yet! 47Aug 18, 2009 10:24 am PK - I thought that you had finished building. Not sure where I got that idea from. Congratulations on the start. Wooohooo another WA slab and build to follow! Re: Building update..Prestart done..Are we there yet! 48Aug 18, 2009 10:28 am Thanks B, yeah we are very happy with the style of houses going up around us. Dragon, someone else thought we had finished aswell, I think because I haven't been on the forum for so long.....I was starting to think it wasn't going to happen. I am very excited now its started. Yay Re: Building update..Prestart done..Are we there yet! 49Aug 18, 2009 12:33 pm congrats on the retaining wall and slab. I'm going to be up in gwelup ( well actually karrinyup ) later this week I'll look out for your block. I live in Gwelup at the moment just behind where they are developing the new land release where North Beach Rd meets Erindale Rd, it is a nice area. New beginnings. Re: Building update..we have a slab and retaining.....finally 52Aug 18, 2009 2:18 pm The new division next to the shops Locus. How are you enjoying all that earth moving....it must be nice now that its nearly finished. I wouldn't mind buying a block there once its finished or in the golf club side....that would be nice. Re: Building update..Prestart done..Are we there yet! 53Aug 18, 2009 2:23 pm Great new on your start PK, well done! need slab pics "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. We went for a drive through there on Sunday, there are some nice houses going up. Have you checked out Prive Lane, next to the round about? Talk about living on top of each other... tiny blocks with literally no garden. I think where you're building is much better. Yes it is nice now that the earth moving has stopped! If you can afford another block in the new development area, I reckon it would be a good investment. I think around $450k is the asking price for land. New beginnings. Re: Building update..Prestart done..Are we there yet! 55Aug 18, 2009 2:40 pm We initially looked at Prive and found all the houses are actually not there own title(or something like that) what I mean is they are numbered like unit 3/24 Pourter St. If that makes sense and all the parking from the school would have been annoying for me. Great for downsizers though not much to look after. It sort of reminds me of Subi a bit. I think we have a bit more land to play with but its not forever as you can tell we will look at doing it again once this one is finished and we have enjoyed it for a while. You are obviously moving to Carramar, will you miss Gwelup? Re: Building update..Prestart done..Are we there yet! 56Aug 18, 2009 2:56 pm gweluphome You are obviously moving to Carramar, will you miss Gwelup? Gwelup is a nice, convenient place to live. I work in Midland at the moment so getting to work is easy - straight down Reid Hwy. It's fairly close to the city too. We're living in a house owned by my other half's mother, which has been very handy as we don't pay rent! Although Carramar will be a bit more out in the sticks, it will be OUR place, which is exciting. In answer to your question, yeah I'll miss it, but the change will be worthwhile in the end New beginnings. I wondered if that was where you were./ we were dashing down there on our way back from inlaws and went right past the entrance to that new bit. we were running late as usual and trying to get back to mums in hamersley ( she lives just off to the west of erindale rd)so we could load the car up to come home and we had no time to stop and take a quick drive around. Next time I'm up without hubby and I will make a point of driving around to look. Re: Building update..Prestart done..Are we there yet! 58Aug 22, 2009 10:13 pm Hey that's great you have a slab PK! I did notice the retaining wall on one of my recent drivebys... We will definitely look in next time we drive by. And if you see one frazzled looking mum doing the shopping at the IGA/fresh food market next door with a 4 yo, 2 yo and baby, usually on Wednesday morning, say hi! It's most likely me!! ps. we have been in 3 weeks now and loving it. Re: Building update..Prestart done..Are we there yet! 59Aug 27, 2009 9:37 pm Just a small update So I drove past the block this morning and I can't believe it, we have bricks.....oh and a tractor I have never seen this before, a tractor actually parked on our slab. Anyway when DH drove past this arvo the bricks had been scattered nicely around the block and the face bricks for the boundry wall had also arrived. I can't believe we have caught up to others on the forum............. I thought it would never happen. http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s360/gweluphome/27082009323.jpg Re: Building update..We have bricks and a tractor! 60Aug 27, 2009 9:44 pm How cool is that!
