After hearing so many peoples horror stories of dealing with Builders and the issues with getting contracts correct etc, I was quite worried about the outcome of our tussle with the builder.
Summed up the issue was that the drawings in the contract, our tender and the variations I supplied did not match up. Even though they had signed a tender, they had put different things in the contract and were eluding to the fact that we would have to pay for the mistakes that they had made, such as a larger window we requested that they forgot to charge us for. There was also a massive issue with the fact that I redesigned the bathroom, and they changed it in the drawings with the result that the shower couldn't open
So Friday week ago I gave them an email listing all the issues and how I expect them to be rectified. Then went on to say that if the issues were not rectified to our satisfaction and without cost to ourselves we would be pulling the job. Well, it took them a while, but after threatening them with walking if we didn't hear from them today, I got an email appologising, saying that they have fixed all the issues with no cost to ourselves, and we will be recieveing a post contract variation to sign.
I'm feeling rather chuffed with myself now, and hopefully the builder has realised that we are running this show, not them
