After all we are spending 100's of thousands in building a house, what is 1000 more for your piece of mind. The inspections with PD and our own have made our house a 'better build' we're going to do exactly the same as shaz, for the same reason. When I signed I told my sales guy that we intended to have our own inspector pre-plaster and he immediately said, "oh you don't have to do that, we have independent inspectors". It really s*its me when he talks like this. IF I was as weary of everything salespeople say, I could have easily believed him. Find me anyone on this forum who had their own inspection done (not by the builder) who did not find problems. Impossible, and my sales guy should (and probably does) know that.
