Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 04, 2009 2:08 pm Hi My hubbie and I are building in Pakenham and have got a serious headaches after looking at so many display homes, and to be honest didn't think we'd ever find a plan we liked. Just a question as to whether anyone has built with Victorian Home Choice in Narre Warren- or knows of anyone who has and what they thought?? Any input would be great!! Re: Victorian Home Choice builders- anyone know of them? 2Jun 22, 2009 11:32 am Hi! Noticed you're building the chelsea with VHC. I'm building the same, but have changed the floor plans around quite a bit to meet with the estate regulations. How are you finding the builder? We started this project in January and told building would commence in May. Unfortunately we are still waiting on permits. Seems like it's taking forever... How is your house coming along? Re: Victorian Home Choice builders- anyone know of them? 3Feb 01, 2010 9:56 am hi, I too am building with VHC and my house is now close to the completion. I am happy with the floor plans they designed for me and I think they did a good job in designing the house. Due to the odd shape of my land, it was not easy for me to find a standard plan which fits into my block.
My builder is nrk. After 14 months from the date I started design, I am still waiting for my house to be completed. They took very long time start digging on the land from the date I signed my contracts. Due to the reason that they start counting the days starting from the date they start digging the land, builder doesn't worry about dead lines. The other thing is I am looking for some one who built with nrk to get some advice on how to deal with them during the construction period. I have been very patient and been paying the progress invoices as soon as I receive them, even though the builder used to send them few weeks before they finish the particular stage of the construction. I think most builders do the same. However there were few occations I was not happy at all because nrk hasn't finished the stage after long time they sent the invoice and pushed me to pay get the payment. Unfortunately there are no clear clauses on the definition of the stages of construction in the building contract and according to nrk, they can deliver the things which is not defined in the contract in the last stage. Basically we end up paying 90% of the value of the house before they finish 80% of the construction. Unfortunately this is my first house that I am building new and didn't know how to check these pin holes in the contract before I signed with nrk. At least I learnt a lot so that I will never build another house again or if I decide to build new one then I know what things need to be included in the contracts and how to choose good builder. It seems like the default building contracts doesn't have lots of required definitions and customer is always at the loosing side. The other problem is when the contract doesn't have clear definition builders can always use them but not the customer. Due to the construction boom happenned due to the Gov grants for new houses, customers are always seemed to be ignored as builders don't have to worry about customer satisfaction. Hope that was a bad time to start building. Thing would have been better when there was no boost in the gov grants. Shared equity in your home is never a good idea. The… 1 3973 I haven’t. But have a Lowe Design home. Not only did I find Matt Lowe patronising and a bully, but the home is NOT TO CODE.
