Browse Forums Building A New House Re: AAARGHHHHH Council said no to Dune Roof 21Apr 04, 2009 8:47 am I have sent the email off to the guy who did the assessment. The assessment can't be changed, so if he thinks we have a shot at changing the decision then we'll have to submit modification. In the mean time I started playing with Windspray, I don't like it as much but I think it could work. I could even do Dune render and keep the dune downpipes, but since we have surfmist gutters and facia I don't rally want Windspray roof, Surfmist facia and then dune downpipes. I don't know if we'll have to submit a modification to change the downpipes from dune to windspray, that would be ridiculous. The windspray has a touch of blue in it, so I guess I'd have to go a bit cooler than the warmer tones of Dune. So here is the original: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here is jasper roof: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Windspray roof with no change to anything else: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Windspray roof with a greyer render: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I think I like the windspray with no change to render colour. I quite like the jasper, but I didn't really want a whole roof of it. What do you think? Re: AAARGHHHHH Council said no to Dune Roof [new facade pics] 22Apr 04, 2009 9:34 am Hey Rachelle, You have done really well to come up with a solution so quickly. I actually like the windspray with no changes like you. I think keep the downpipes the same colour as your render. They are on a different perspective being vertical rather then on your roof and you will probably find you won't really notice a massive difference. I mean you will because its yours and you know but I bet anyone esle wouldn't know unless you told them. As for your gutters and fascias.....I would keep the same balance so windsrpay for all.....rather then the mix of colours. It does still look very nice Rachelle Re: AAARGHHHHH Council said no to Dune Roof [new facade pics] 23Apr 04, 2009 10:11 am I'd talk to someone at council before you submit anything Rachelle. I really think that if they knocked back Dune they'd probably knock back Windspray for the same reason. I'd hate for that to happen to you again. I'm not a big browns fan, so not a big fan of Jasper. But I reckon a Jasper roof with Dune guttering etc is your best bet. Southies has a Jasper roof and it came up a lot lighter than she expected from memory. But I'd have a real crack at keeping the Dune first. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: AAARGHHHHH Council said no to Dune Roof [new facade pics] 24Apr 04, 2009 10:15 am I like the jasper- and you wouldn't really see the whole roof of it in real life. A lighter option like the windspray would be better for energy efficiency though, and also looks good Re: AAARGHHHHH Council said no to Dune Roof [new facade pics] 25Apr 04, 2009 10:17 am thanks PK, but I think I'm stuck with the white gutters and fascia (sp?) because that's what has been stamped by council. I think I could get away with changing the downpipes to the same colour as the roof, as previously both were Dune so I think it would pass certifier that the council requested new roof colour, therefore downpipes will change to suit. Jo, windspray is actually considered Dark according to this... http://www.colorbond.com/index.cfm?obje ... 6BE38355FB I'll definitely continue down the fight-for-Dune path, but if not then I'm ok with the windspray now, not exactly what I wanted, but as others said, it's way up on the roof so I probably won't notice it too much. Re: AAARGHHHHH Council said no to Dune Roof [new facade pics] 26Apr 04, 2009 10:23 am Fair enough Rach, hopefully like Jo said put up a fight first and then decide on changes. I noticed aswell you have done more inside.........do you have a homeshare code? We are nearly finished ours aswell so I could send you mine if you like. You can say no I would completely understand. PM me if you like. Re: AAARGHHHHH Council said no to Dune Roof [new facade pics] 27Apr 04, 2009 10:24 am Oh that's good then. I know this is no help to you, but I can't believe the nightmare you guys in N.S.W. have to endure to build a bloody house! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: AAARGHHHHH Council said no to Dune Roof [new facade pics] 28Apr 04, 2009 12:32 pm I think they all look really good! The windspray with nothing else changed is my preference, and then the jasper. Your facade is so gorgeous anyway that the roof colour doesn't seem to have that much impact if it's changed, which is a good thing But I really hope you can still have Dune. Re: AAARGHHHHH Council said no to Dune Roof [new facade pics] 29Apr 04, 2009 3:20 pm I'm a grey not a brown kind of girl BUT I have to say that out of all of them I prefer the Jasper. With the Windspray - even if you change the render colour to me the bricks don't work as well. Re: AAARGHHHHH Council said no to Dune Roof [new facade pics] 30Apr 05, 2009 9:20 pm I really like the Jasper after seeing Southies (?) Jasper roof. It really turned out much lighter than you would think and looked devine!! But I agree with jo, your heart is set on Dune so try with all your might to get what you want Your facade is just gorgeous, I'm sure any selections you choose will look wonderful My karma ran over your dogma Re: AAARGHHHHH Council said no to Dune Roof [new facade pics] 31Apr 06, 2009 10:23 am Hi Its a personal preference. I think Jasper looks better on the pics above. Anyways good luck with the council ... for your sake i hope u get to keep dune. Land Settled 27/04/09. Site Started 30/4/09. Slab poured 21/5/09.
