Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 30, 2009 9:01 pm So we've scratched up most of our floor plan so far. Because we are building on a sloping block and want the house to step down the slope we aren't using pre-designed plan. We took one we liked the concept of, made a few (ok, a lot) changes and generally have things set out how we want. The living area building will be a few steps lower than the second building at the back, with the small hall joining the 2. We have a couple of spots we are stuck on. 1. Do I want another set of doors or just windows. I'm actually leaning towards a set of 3 slimline windows like in the main bedroom. 2. The entrance. I need to make a change here to allow for the front door to not open on to the lounge so much. The original plan had sliding glass doors there, but I don't like that. I think I need to have that section step out to make it the actual entrance area. There are a few other windows missing also, but we just need to decide where we want them. But anyways, what do you think. A couple of notes: Yes, I prefer cooktop on the island bench. And yes, the gaps behind the bathroom doors are there for a reason. No attached garage because there will be a big shed (we are on 3 acres), but there will be a carport somewhere. At this stage the external finish of the house will be a combination of weatherboard and colourbond. (I hope the attachment works).
