Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 30, 2009 8:01 am Hi all, I'm working on some calculations and would like to know the cost of 3rd parties who could do tiles and carpets as well. I will be buying my tiles from National Tiles, and the carpet will be from either GodFrey's or any other suppliers. If saving this results in enough savings over PD's promotion, then I'll let you know Thanks Re: Cost of 3rd party to lay down the floor tiles & carpet ? 2Mar 30, 2009 9:52 am Hi iTalk. We also thought about getting the tiles for our PD house done by a 3rd party. PD charge $79sqm extra for tiling not included in promotion, and thats only for the standard range. It will work out alot cheaper, and give you a bigger range if you go through a 3rd party but the only downside to that is its "another" thing to get done after handover lol. We originally had our family dining and rumpus carpet, but we decided to go though porter davis and get them tiles. As this was pritty much the only upgrade we took up it didnt bother us too much. It was still and extra approx 5k. Here is what we did. (Sorry for my artistic skills in Paint lol) Green - Included tiles Red - Extra Tiles Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Best suggestion would be to take your floor plan into godfreys and tile shops and get some quotes. And if the tiles you want arnt in the standard range you will be sure to save some coin. Yes and very interesting that a tile that costs $40 retail then cost me $65 per metre just in upgrade price. Even allowing for a considerably higher laying charge it it still unreasonable. Add to that... I've got it on reasonably good authority that the upgrade prices went through the roof when the flooring promo came in. My tile used to be a $45 pm upgrade apparently. Basically recouping their costs in the higher prices for giving you the free stuff. Is this what PD are now doing with their higher priced tiling too? ICK So glad the building is over, never again. Loooove our house, but still not quite sure it was worth all of the stress they put us through! 1 15766 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7310 They make the room much easier to clean for one, reflect more light (if light colour tiles are used), and you dont end up with dust on the top edge of tiles (cause most… 3 9618 |
