Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Where are the people building with HENLEY 101Apr 27, 2009 8:50 pm After finding a couple of strange mistakes in our drawings (like wrong windows in the facade, Isn't that what makes a facade? ) I'm starting to wonder about all the little mistakes I'm not noticing. What strange little mistakes did everyone else find? Re: Where are the people building with HENLEY 102Apr 27, 2009 9:01 pm hmmmm thats weird Ari you would think they would know what windows go in a facade.... we were lucky and didn't have any mistakes on our drawings! Have they given you a contract signing date yet or one that you will actually sign them on rather than a tentative? 2nd build here we come in Whittlesea! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=92617 1st Build - Henley - Cooper in Doreen! The contract and drawings were going to be posted on Wednesday...but they haven't arrived. I asked for the drawings to be emailed to me and have emailed back quite a few errors but haven't heard anything since. Actually I've sent 4 emails and will send another one tonight with another error but I'll have to call tomorrow obviously in case they aren't getting through (I try to give the benefit of the doubt). We also lost 9 centimetres from the study width...it was moved into the main bedroom entry.... very strange. Surely they start from a base plan... Have you checked your plan inside out? It took me a few days to pick up on a couple of the errors. Re: Where are the people building with HENLEY 104Apr 27, 2009 10:24 pm Sorry to hear about all your mistakes, Ari, and I know exactly how you feel. We had trouble with a couple of our windows too. They kept on drawing them on as awnings, when clearly we had stated they were to be slidings. Our family room lighting configuration was completey wrong, and when they tried to change a few other things bulkheads mysteriously went missing. I got so fed up with their constant mistakes, I ended up writing a letter listing all their mistakes complete with drawings as to how it should be. Despite this, there were still mistakes. I hope things get sorted out for you soon and you can get on with building your home! I found this to be the most frustrating part (so far...) of the whole process. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... One side did have those little filler bricks that you have, so it seems like standard practise. Did you sign contracts before your drawings were right? Not that we have contracts, and our tender doesn't have the extras added yet... I assume I get more indepth drawings later? Re: Where are the people building with HENLEY 106Apr 27, 2009 11:50 pm Thanks Ari, I don't think I have a leg to stand on, but I'm still not happy about them being on the front facade, and so obvious. I'll still talk to my SS about them, though. Yes we signed our contracts well before the drawings were right. We signed on 5th August last year, and didn't sign off on our correct final drawings until 22nd December. Yes, it took that long (plus we had to demolish the house which was in the way!). Provided you don't add anything else, and everything you want changed between the contract appointment and signing off on the final drawings is well documented you will be fine! We were lucky that Henley had to do several PCV's to include the soil test and slab alterations after the house was demo'd, and we added heaps of things without the $500 fee. As far as I can remember, the drawings didn't differ at all between the tender and the final ones...just that they were finally correct!! Check and re check everything!! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... My partner looked over them and so did my dad who is a draftsman. 2nd build here we come in Whittlesea! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=92617 1st Build - Henley - Cooper in Doreen! I would say that I had a very smooth journey so far both with the Administration side as well as the construction side. The construction actually commenced in early March and the house is close to lock up stage. I get a weekly update from my Administrator and occassionaly from my supervisor. I am really happy with the customer service at Henley. My queries get answered promptly. I would definitly recommend Henley to anyone. Undisputably, they have some of the best house designs in the marketplace. Re: Where are the people building with HENLEY 111Apr 29, 2009 1:09 pm Vkumar - looks like we are at the same stage!! We're also building the Ascot (384) in Sanctuary Lakes and we have passed lock up stage - waa hoo! I must admit though we did have some issues at the start but we have a new SS now and he's fantastic! He has just moved things along so quickly as he actually has a few things going on at the same time - go figure!! We are getting plastered next week and the kitchen installed too next week - eek! It's all happening so quickly now. We had to put a balcony on the side (where the TV room is upstairs) as part of Santuary Lakes code (it's a big 8 metre long balcony!) and we thought that would hold things up as it's out of the ordinary but he's on the ball and we have our bricks being cleaned today. Our administrator has been great too. I'm just freaking out that I thought I had more time but it looks like we could be in a lot earlier.... Just can't wait to move in. This week they have installed the solar hot water pannels. I currently live in the South East and go to see progress every fortnight. I am always over whelmed with the progress. Have my site visit with the supervisor next week Thursday. Really looking forward for that. Re: Where are the people building with HENLEY 113Apr 29, 2009 4:34 pm That's so funny - we were living in South East as well and recently moved out to Point Cook to get used to living over here. It's great seeing how much that area has grown and there's so much more to come! We're pretty happy with H3nley and by the sounds of it, you're going to be close to finishing soon too! I just hope they keep it up. I've been holding in my excitement as I didn't want to jinx myself so I'm glad to hear that yours has moved along so quickly too! Went to visit our house yesterday. Everything is going well and as planned. There have been no major issues at all with the build and as a result, it's always been a pleasure to speak with our administrator. The house is currently being tiled and looks great. I will take some pics when I can get inside, as the tiles were being grouted yesterday. I guess we went into the build not stressed by issues that other people have had with their builder. We liked the house design, so we picked it. The process up until construction was excellent. Our contract administrator is contacting me every week to let me know the build progress. If I have any questions, I will email or call and always get a response within 1 business day. Our SS knows what he's doing, and he will be the SS from start to finish. So yeah, so far it's been smooth sailing! Looking forward to posting pics when the tiling is finished! Cinny, we have a Cooper going up right near us. Lovely design. My cousin is building one also. There is also a Monterey and a Charlton going up in our estate. All look great and are going well. Our only issue is with our block! We need some serious landscaping done when we move in! ' Congrats Matty!!! You're so close. I would love to see the pics when you get a chance. I agree with you on the 'no stress'. We were stressed out at the beginning during contract stage and our stress probably added to their stress but since building commenced we just took a step back and let the professionals do their job and it seems to be working out really well for us! Of course we still keep a close on eye on things - like everyday!
