Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 27, 2009 8:31 pm We are having our PCI on Tuesday.... (oh my goodness we are up to completion already) and i had my independent inspector go through today with my SS. The first issue is the paint, in the colour we have it just isn't a good enugh cover with 2 coats, so we will have to have a third. I am fairly certain that this will be done and not a problem. My biggest issue is the front windows show light through the frames at the corner joints. Now i think they all need to be either fixed or replaced. The other is the pantry...some nuff nuff has placed vertical supports in the pantry basically cutting my pantry into two. Now if it was over 2 meters wide i woudl expect this but it is just a standard size. My question is would you move into the house in 7 days and get these fixed either in the 7 days to handover or after you had moved in, or would you delay handover and wait until they are all fixed??? Appreciate all OR ANY opinions. We are just so close!!! Friends of ours rushed handover and moved in with HEAPS of problems and now they are 4-5 mths down the track and still waiting for some things to be fixed. They also discovered more problems along the way too Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. We ended up having to take h/o with some things still needing to be done, and it's been a PITA waiting, and having tradies come in to what is now our home, not a building site!!! None of those sound like major dramas, although if windows need replacing, that might take more than a few days to organise. What does your detail drawings show for your pantry shelves? Cupboards are usually included, showing the shelf layout. If there's a centre support on the drawings, then you don't really have any cause for complaint. If not, insist they fix it. Re: PCI - some advice please 8Mar 29, 2009 8:55 am sb - I had them just not put the shelves in , as I had seen some really nice o/head cupboards that matched our kitchen ones ok in Bunnings, so DH did that after h/over. I think this may be one of those tricky ones where they make the displays look good by not putting in the bracing, when the shelves actually need to be braced for stability.....? Anyone else built with PD and know how it gets done in non display houses??? Hope Tue goes well, sb, how exciting !!!
