Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 26, 2009 7:26 pm Mr smith & I are in the process of trying to find a builder in Melbourne at the moment...we're looking at a builder that would be happy to build our own design.
At this moment we're looking at two main builders, Hotondo Homes & Dean Homes. We've received a quote for the same size home from both builders & there's quite a difference between their prices, a $30,000.00 difference. Has anyone else found that their quotes varied so much, if so we'd like to hear about it & has anyone experienced their building dream with either one of these two builders. Also if anyone can recommend a builder around the North-Western area we'd appreciate any information you have. Re: Help!!! Trying to find a builder 2Mar 26, 2009 8:29 pm Welcome to the forum Mr and Mrs Smith All I can say is ask many questions, check references, go to homes that you builder has built and most importantly, do your research that the company has an excellent reputation and pay their bills on time (if you talk to their suppliers you can find this out....we did ) Look at the quality of their houses, is their attention to detail obvious or have they cut corners...you will know from the outside (sometimes) by just looking at the exterior. Are the people who work for the company approachable and helpful, do they ring you back straight away. I could go on and on. Anyway, good luck I'm sure other posters will have great advise for you. Mrs B Re: Help!!! Trying to find a builder 3Mar 27, 2009 9:24 am Thanks Mrs B, we appreciate your reply . We're in the process of doing exactly what you've suggested, although not able to find anyone who has dealt with Dean Homes & I suppose this would be the case with most private builders. We did see their display home & they're in one of the Display Villages with all the big guys, so are thoughts are that he is trying to compete with them & so his price is just as competitive as theirs. Re: Help!!! Trying to find a builder 4Mar 27, 2009 9:33 am I think there was a thread on here about dean homes or i searched it on google and found one on another website i can't remember, as we did briefly look at them as they had displays in vantage point near us! 2nd build here we come in Whittlesea! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=92617 1st Build - Henley - Cooper in Doreen! (2009) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17354 Re: Help!!! Trying to find a builder 5Mar 27, 2009 11:48 am Hi Smiths. We have just started with New Dimension Homes. Our main reason for going with them was that they are a project builder who was happy to begin with our layout. Many builders say they allow changes but end up being very restrictive. We sought and recieved some great advise regarding NDH on this forum about 6 months ago. Good Luck Re: Help!!! Trying to find a builder 8Apr 04, 2009 1:19 am Welcome Mr & Mrs Smith, I recommend Urbayne Homes. Theyre very flexible in design , floor plans that you want. Had the handover with them yesterday, we designed our house with kitchen upstairs and bedroom downstairs. And we really love the result. Check their website www.urbaynehomes.com.au - or visit their displays in Caroline Springs shar Re: Help!!! Trying to find a builder 9Apr 17, 2009 11:38 am Hi Jess 40, I'd be very interested to know how your building process has been with Dean Homes, but as I'm a newbie, I have no idea how to PM you, although I'll give a try & hope for the best. Speak to u soon. Re: Help!!! Trying to find a builder 10Jul 08, 2016 10:04 am Hi Jess 40 and mr & mrs smith, How did you go with Deam homes? Do you recommend them to anyone who wants to build a double story house? Did you face any issue in your building process or any quality issue after you moved in? Apparently they are bit expensive then all the major builders like henley or carlisle homes. I had a similar issue with my fridge not too long ago. It wasn't the same model, but the symptoms were pretty much the same: the compressor would start and then stop… 3 7536 |
