I am only new here but thought I would share some of our story. Our home began with Porter Davis in September last year and everything was going fantastic, the house was painted and ready for floor coverings, plumbing and showers and electrical fit off to begin after xmas. Sounds easy, but we are still not in. After xmas we have had nothing but problems, nearly every job has had to be done twice, yes a reflection on the tradies but also the site supervisor. Most of these problems have been detected by us, not by the site supervisor. In the local paper the director of PD is quoted saying “building a home is an experience that should be enjoyed and we do everything we can to make sure the process is stress-free”, and that PD has been awarded the HIA best customer service award. As far as my experience is concerned the customer service has been terrible with many unreturned phone calls and emails from both the customer service co-ordinator and site supervisor, and the process has been stressful and very frustrating. With such a wonderful start we have been very disappointed with the progress since xmas and have been given many approx dates for handover, lucky we have not given notice at our rented home. We had PC inspection two weeks ago and very little has been rectified since this and we are guessing that out handover next week will not be happening. I have found this very suprising in considering we have now entered into the period where they are paying us rent.
My advise is to keep a log of any contact you have had / messeages left with PD and to record any problems, and have your own independent inspection done.
Hopefully we will be moving in soon, but this will not be happening until absolutely everything is done, we will not be settling with jobs left to be done.
There are many stories to tell about our progress, please send a pm if you would like more information.
I would however like to say that the process pre-build was fantastic, and even up until Xmas we highly recommended PD, but unfortunately now we would not. Perhaps when the home is finished we will change our minds, but I really think that your experience depends on your site supervisor and the tradies used.
