Love the plantations, just beautiful Lol at no letterbox yet!...yup better get onto that one pronto!....Whenever l move l get redirection for 12 months minimum...then instead of trying to remember to change addresses for everything within weeks or a month, l can take my time and change it as mail arrives Sorry to hear that your car got broken into....not good! Least you had common sense to not to leave any valuables in it! Re: BJ's Regent23 - Shutters in & landscaping started! 602Aug 30, 2009 11:37 pm The blinds and shutters look great We get ours on wednesday. It's all coming together really nicely for you. We bought a cheap $20 letter box from Bunnings to use for now. We have bought a nice stone one but don't want to install it until the front gets landscaped. Have you decided how you are going to design your front yard? Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Re: BJ's Regent23 - Shutters in & landscaping started! 605Sep 01, 2009 1:47 pm You're moving along fast BJ....I still don't have blinds on a few of my windows. Where did you get your shutters from? They look very swish... Re: BJ's Regent23 - Shutters in & landscaping started! 606Sep 05, 2009 7:03 pm Hey - Thanks everyone Its the first time I have ever done any type of landscaping... so its all very new, but I don't think am doing too bad a job at it... Erin - I never thought I would do the landscaping, but funnily enough, now that I am... I feel great about it. Really feels like I am accomplishing something... my own touch to the house, I guess. Hels & Thorney - I am ashamed to say, a week later, and we STILL haven't got one... I think we will do something about that tomorrow. Kek - Thanks The plantation shutters came from HomeOutlet, same place as all our other blinds. These ones just came later, cos they take longer to make. Oh, and the car is still off the road... with all the moving and other expenses, I just don't have the cash to spare... so it's housed up in the garage until theres a little cashflow! Here's a few updated pics of my front yard progress. Ground is cleared and prepped. First lot of soil is in. Its a soil used just for filling... I have the top soil (lawn mix) coming on Tuesday. Also borrowing the father-in-laws sander tomorrow... so hopefully by next weekend I will have sanded and stained the wall! I am going to cut it down. cos the yard will be filled up to level with the wall... The drain needs to remain uncovered, right? Well, that's what I was told... Re: BJ's Regent23 - My DIY Landscaping! 609Sep 06, 2009 8:39 am You were told right, BJ....we cut ours down to ground level, but because you've raised the level, yours obviously needed raising. Nice handyperson job, BTW!! Re: BJ's Regent23 - My DIY Landscaping! 610Sep 06, 2009 10:39 am Hi beejay Good on ya for the DIY landscaping , its funny what u can accomplish when u put ur mind to it . Off topic here but how much did your driveway cost you ?? is it just standard concrete ?? painted , stenciled ? cheers the concrete is a sore point. Not that happy with it... But it was 2100 for colour through. Building with PD - Regent 23 in Point Cook WE'RE IN!!! Landscaping! Re: BJ's Regent23 - My DIY Landscaping! 612Sep 07, 2009 5:57 pm You know what beejay , even if your not too happy with it for 2100 i think its good value for money , were betting on a driveway to be around the 5k mark as we really like the exposed aggrogate look ... How you finding the house ? any thing you can pick once you have settled in ? or are you happy with PD's build ? How you finding the house ? any thing you can pick once you have settled in ? or are you happy with PD's build ? Yeah, you are right... It's not that it's a bad job, more not 100% on the finish. And the colour was not quite what we expected... But funny enough, now that we are used to the colour, it isn't too bad still, the finish could have been better... As for things to pick at? Nothing. Minor issues like a couple of door handles... But SS came straight over and fixed. Leaky mixer in the ensuite, which plumber already booked to fix. All good, and very happy with the overall. mundie mansion Nice job BJ, looking really good Building with PD - Regent 23 in Point Cook WE'RE IN!!! Landscaping! I also park there sometimes so it's a bit scary to hear that happened. I hope things are sorted for you now. Your house is absolutely gorgeous, i agree with everyone else, those plantation shutters are to die for. Can i ask where you got them from? [i]We built in Point Cook and are loving our new house. Re: BJ's Regent23 - My DIY Landscaping! 620Oct 05, 2009 2:40 pm OK - So stage 2 of the front yard landscaping adventure is complete! This was all done in one day (yesterday!),manually, by hand... just DP, me, two shovels and a van. We bought 3 huge yuccas on ebay, an 8ft, 7ft & 5ft, for $260! We had to actually dig them out of the peoples yard ourselves and cart them home! I also bought redgum posts to match the retaining wall, and concreted those in behind, for a bit of a feature. The Agaves were also from ebay, $20 each. And the grasses are Bronze Baby Fluxes.
