Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Westminster Homes - The official thread 275Sep 23, 2009 7:09 pm Hi Winks Nice to hear from, Your story sounds familiar, they put the fascia and gutters on the main part of the roof but did'nt do the back, they have tiled the main roof (finished on Friday) and nothing this week! We are having issues with the roof so I hope they will fix them before they finish the whole lot. We had our slab poured on the 1st June around the same time as you, and we had the ground levelled just before they went into adminstration, it looks like we are at the same stage We are also thinking that they must be wanting their progress payment, so why are they so slow? May be they are really having trouble with the fascias and gutters because the remainder has not been delivered, which means they cannot tile the back part of our house. Keep in touch and tell us of your progress. Are you keeping a diary? we are recording everything, all conversations and weather conditions. May be a bit paranoid, but I have a bad memory and it keeps me on track. Cheers T. Re: Westminster Homes - The official thread 276Oct 02, 2009 12:23 am Hi winks So much for my optimism, they have not done any work on my site this week although they promised that the bricks would be cleaned and the roof would be completed by the end of the week. (they didn't say which week in the calendar) Taking a break are they? They gave us the same line about the brick cleaner and the fascias, Is there only one brick cleaner in sydney? He is a lucky guy getting all this work! Are you building in sydney and that' why we are both having the same troubles? When he finishes with your house can you send him accross to my place I would really appreciate it. How is your house coming along? Cheers T. Re: Westminster Homes - The official thread 277Oct 02, 2009 9:46 pm We are at the exactly same stage, same lame excuses, same lack of action, same wishful thinking. Despite my hopes and their promises nothing happened. I haven’t seen anything happen at all since I last posted and I visit the site about every second day. I am building at Blacktown so I don’t know if that is near you or not. My original contract estimated 34 week build time. That would have taken me to October so not much chance of them finishing it in time. Yes I think there must be only one brick cleaner in Sydney:roll: There are some Westminster’s being built over at The Ponds that I keep an eye on and noticed the brick cleaning was needed a few weeks ago and it was mysteriously done about a week ago so they must have someone. That house looked just about completed with no scaffolding too so I don’t think that is a reasonable excuse for them to delay our projects because of the need to clean bricks. not happy at all. Why are they so slow? Brick cleaning- how hard can it be. And why is there no fascia guttering available. It feels like they are intentionally going slow or something. I dont know what to do to get them to go faster. thats why the building industry is a mess. Consumers in NSW have very little real chance of receiving good service. Building Glenburn with Westminster Re: Westminster Homes - The official thread 279Oct 03, 2009 7:50 pm Hi there Winks and Carmel. My partner rang on Friday to find out why nothing had been done and all he got is we have not heard from the brick cleaner, otherwise everything is ready to go. I have a good mind to tell them at the next progress payment that I have not heard from my broker otherwise everything is ready to be paid! I wonder how that would go down? The SS also said that he would let us know ASAP (knowing very well that there was a long weekend coming up) buying himself some time. I wouldn't be surprised if the trades refuse to work if they have not been paid for their previous jobs, they probably don't want to get caught out a second time. I would do the same. As far as how to light a fire under them I have no idea I would appreciate someone telling us what to do. We intend to keep ringing and making a nuisance of ourselves and also writing emails to the office until we get results, that's all I can suggest for now. We are building at Turramurra it's a shame it is so far from you. We live 5 minutes drive from our building site so we visit the site everyday and sometimes twice. Enjoy your long weekend. T. Re: Westminster Homes - The official thread 280Oct 04, 2009 10:31 am Well, I went there yesterday. I noticed they had been to the site as there was a pile of building waste that had been removed so I assume they did that so now I am not able to claim the site has been abandoned. that was the only change. They must have the one tradie travelling between Turramurra and Blacktown, thats why they are so slow. It looks like this rain has set in around Sydney for the next week so I imagine the SS really did buy himself some time as they can now claim it is too wet to do anything. They are like ninja builders or something, you never hear from them, never see them coming, never see anyone working but then something happens and then they disappear again leaving no idea when they might return. Ridiculous. Actually yes you do hear from them... when they want your money. thats the only contact I have ever got any contact from them. If I didnt have a wife and 4 month old baby at home, I would serious consider camping out on site rather than wasting my money on rent. I have a new building project coming up in The Ponds too so am hoping to get this one finished before the land registers, hmm I wonder if I will use Westminster again Building Glenburn with Westminster Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 77310 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
