Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - slab pics 62Jul 12, 2009 8:41 pm woo-hoo..looking good Abbey...that's one mean looking slab you have there...congrats on the progress.... Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - slab pics 63Jul 23, 2009 4:08 pm Its been a while since ive been able to post on here, moved house so alot has been happening and internet access is limited now. We had a few delays with getting the framer on site, but thats been resolved and happy to say we now have a completed frame.Once they got on there, they were quick, it was all done in 3 days, don't know if thats they norm but i found it pretty quick. Builder called me yesterday and said that the bricks will be delivered on Friday, wrapping to be done on Monday, gutters on Tuesday and bricking to commence on Wednesday, so things are finally moving along now. I've got a few pics to share, there are more but haven't uploaded them onto the computer yet. The pics are all taken from the outside, i was surprised how tightly they have sealed the site. I remember it was really easy getting access to my parents house, the fence was left open most of the time, but they have certainly made very difficult for anyone to get inside, i am happy about that. Will be meeting the SS on Wednesday so will get a better look then. finger got in the way of this one.. oops Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Frame done 64Jul 23, 2009 7:31 pm wow Abbey, your house is really beginning to take shape and it is gorgeous! Yes 3 days believe it or not is normal. Clarity had her entire frame for the ground floor done in a day and the frame for the second floor done in a few hours...when the traidies get to work....they work quickly! Hoping the rest of your build is smooth sailing.......Wishing you happy days ahead Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Frame done 65Jul 23, 2009 8:19 pm Great to see some action for you and it sounds like it will continue now. Love the windows Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Frame done 66Jul 23, 2009 10:48 pm yay!!...the house is looking great abbey Have you been able to do a walk-through at all or have you been locked out since it went up? Sounds like things are going to progress well for you now...it's exciting ...looking forward to seeing more pics Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Frame done 67Jul 24, 2009 10:10 am Congrats on the frame being finished Looks as if they have lined all the tradies up and hope that there are not too many delays Good to hear about the security with access to the house Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Frame done 68Jul 24, 2009 9:21 pm Thank you all for the replies. I am really excited now, went for a drive past the block this afternoon and the bricks have arrived its been such a long time since we saw the bricks we picked, i thought they we were a pretty dark brick, but seeing them today they didn't look that dark at all, i think they must look a bit different once they are up with the mortar. Will try to post some pics tomorrow. Thorney: I haven't really been able to walk on the slab since its been poured, feel locked out already! We are due to meet the builder this wednesday so hopefully we can take a closer look then. Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Frame done 69Jul 24, 2009 11:03 pm Congrats on the frame. Can't wait to see the bricks going up. We are building with NBG too and am very interested in how your build goes. We meet with the sales rep tomorrow to go through our plans and pay the second stage fee. .......btw, great colour selection - I love the colour of your splashback!!! Which estate are you building in? Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Frame done 70Jul 25, 2009 10:29 am Rowena: Thank you. Nice to hear of more people building with NBG, good luck and i hope you have a great experience and a great home at the end of it. The start can be slow, and confusing when it comes to selecting things but i think once things get started its exciting. Which house are you building? We're building in the st andrews field estate. Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Frame done 71Jul 25, 2009 12:36 pm Hi Abbey - we actually visited "colourworld" before making a decision about NBG. We were given a pack of all the brochures - bricks etc. So have had fun looking at colours so hopefully when the decision comes it'll be painless. We are taking bits and pieces from the Homestead and Manhattan 23. Long skinny block no choice. ....can't wait to see your house all bricked it - yeah. I just love following people's progress - never knew that bricks and roofs could be so exciting. Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Frame done 72Jul 25, 2009 2:18 pm Woo-hoo to bricks arriving.....isn't it funny how what you envision/remember what colour your bricks are is often not quite the same when you get them. Are you having off-white mortar? If so, then yeah they'll be look more darker once it's bricked and the mortar dries Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Frame done 73Jul 25, 2009 9:24 pm I've managed to get more photos up now. After the bricks were delivered, it was a lot easier to access the site, so today i got in there and took LOTS of pics. So how awesome was it walking through your home...let me guess it was really awesome?? Love the bricks.....on the few occasions l was stressing about my brick and roof choice, l considered changing our brick to the Rattan or Mocha. Sorry if you've already posted this previously , but what are your other colours going to be? Re: Building the NBG Ellington 25E - Frame done (more pics) 77Jul 26, 2009 9:57 pm Thank you for your nice comments I can't wait for them to go up to see what they will look like. I think it must be normal for most people to get freaked out a little when they see the things delivered and wonder whether they've made the right choice, i get that feeling when i buy most things really! Thorney: I don't think ive actually mentioned the rest of the external colours before. Gutters: Jasper, same colour as the window frames Fascia: Paperbark Roof: Flat roof tiles in Mocha Choc, another choice which i am unsure about, a little nervious about that one. The front door and garage door will be in Paperbark. We wanted the windows to blend in with the brick so that not much attention is drawn to them and will makes the plantation shutters stand out later on hopefully. We met the SS on site yesterday and a long pleasant chat about whats going to be happening. We were told that bricking will finish at the end of next week, followed by roofing and gutters the week after. So if all goes to plan we will be at lock up in 2 weeks! thats fantastic, im happy that things have finally started to progress steadily. Walking through the house yesterday my husband and i had an idea and we asked the builder to let us know how much it will cost to do something like this, but i still have concerns as to whether it is the right thing to do. Ive attached a picture of the plan. In our living/dining area there are two walls that stick out, just as you enter the area and one to the left side of where the fridge will be. We were thinking of putting doors across this 4m area which will blend in with the wall (floor to ceiling and in same colour) as a storage space. Ive marked this space with a red marker. I would live your opinions on this idea. Do the extra storage!!!! you won't regret it especially when/if ever you have kiddos! Hope the cost to do it is reasonable, but if it's not then it is something you could do at a later date.
