The Plot is 72m long and slopes 3 metres from back to front, but the area where the slab will go down is actually pretty flat, probably just over 1 metre. Have you built the split design? Re: Very Naive 1st time home builder needs advice..... 22Mar 25, 2009 10:26 pm not sure its a good idea if you get the soil certificate or the contour yourself... you may save a hundred bucks (as per JNR) but guess who holds the responsibility if its wrong...you ... much better to heap the responsibility on the builder as they give you a long term warranty on the performance of the footings and slab... do you really want the responsibility of assuring the builder that it is correct ... and if something went wrong down the track you hardly want to be paying legals out chasing the original author... leave it to the builder we found it much cleaner and simpler to blame him if something goes wrong. Life is an enjoyment, enjoy it Re: Very Naive 1st time home builder needs advice..... 23Mar 26, 2009 10:30 am Hi everyone. Have decided that we will get the builders to do soil & contour surveys. Yes it may be slightly more expensive but it seems from everyones feedback that in the long run it is the safest way to go. Now just need my offer to be accepted formally for our big block of land and its all systems go! Fingers Crossed!! We found them easy to deal with, they were convenient because they are essentially the local builder whereas all the other builders are out of the western suburbs of Sydney 180kms away. Their process was informative...my friend is building with them at the moment and he tells me their communications have improved a lot..they apparently SMS you at every stage of the proceedings.... and the building supervisor rings you weekly with a construction update. What a load of crock! Building Sup rings weekly hahahah yeah right NOT!!!! and yes we have gone through the building process with them. Building Sup never once called us or returned any emails sent to him Hi there, We’ve recently had plans approved to add a 1st storey addition to our existing house for a growing family in Sydney.
