Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 23, 2009 12:03 pm Dose your builder know about your blog? How would you feel if they read it. Would it bother you? I know that the people at Masterton know and read our blog. I reckon its great. Re: A question Blogs and builders. 4Mar 23, 2009 12:19 pm I feel the same as Lisanne. They don't know yet, but I will mention it. I think that as the build progresses I will use intials to identify people from the company, but when an individual has been fantastic, I will name them individually. With their permission of course. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: A question Blogs and builders. 5Mar 23, 2009 12:28 pm Our builder doesn't know about our blog yet but not because I'm hiding it, simply because I've only just set it up and I haven't had the opportunity to tell them about it - it's now in the signature of my email so it won't be long before they do find it. I have a blog so that my family and friends can share the building process with us (if they want or ignore it if they're not interested) rather than me bombarding them all with picture laden emails. If my builder is interested in reading it, then that's fine - it is up there for all to see afterall! My bloggin policy is the same - don't post anything that I wouldn't be prepared for the whole world to see, and keep other people's identities private (it's my choice to blog and put my life up there and I'm happy for that but I don't have the right to put other peoples info without permission and so I won't). This is most probably going to sound neurotic or something, but I don't mind people I've never met reading my blog and my posts here, but I feel really self conscious if someone I actually know reads them hmmmm . If DH says he checked out our blog, I'm all like "Did it sound OK?" Am I really strange or just a bit ??? If DH says he checked out our blog, I'm all like "Did it sound OK?" Am I really strange or just a bit ??? yep, I feel the same way. I have people throughout the world reading and commenting on my blog but my own friends have never shown any interest or cant find it I told my builder once and I said he has to find it. I have only written what I dont mind him reading. I have never mentioned his name or company on my blog or this forum. He is a very nice guy and trying to do the right thing by us...its just that he has sooooo much work on, he gets overwhelmed. Anyway, no need for him to read my blog when I am just about to email him how 'I feel' right at this moment, no one yet again at the house and handover supposedly next week Mrs B Re: A question Blogs and builders. 11Mar 23, 2009 4:44 pm lisanne I don't think mine is aware of mine yet, but I'm not fussed if they do know about it and read it - I wont be putting anything in it that I wouldn't be prepared to say to them Yep. It in a way benefits builders so they can improve. Built the Atlantique 37 Mk2 with Carlisle Homes - WE'RE IN!! It may be 'on file', but none of the 3 other CSA's I've dealt with have mentioned it. If they read the forum, then they'd be able to find it. I only mention the company name, but not individuals or even initials. I only post information that is true and correct, or if I think there is a problem I use the words 'appear to be' or 'in my opinion' until the matter is dealt with with the builder or Admin. The purpose of my blog is not to destroy a company, but more a running diary of the whole process and how I feel about it. If they read it...good! It might make them realise that customers/clients have feelings and do not like to be screwed with! I also never post personal details, lot numbers, street names or plans/elevation drawings with numbers and measurements on them (they are copyright!). I've had people ripping off my photos from my website before and using them on theirs and I was furious. Same sort of thing IMHO. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! We were venting and pretty annoyed, but didnt use anyone's name. I contacted the person at H3nley straight away and explained what we'd posted, and she didnt care! She said good on you, free speech blah blah. I think anyone can say whatever they like as long as they're being honest, our blog is for friends and family, and other people going through the same process. Bit annoyed that the other person at H3nley didnt just contact us personally, rather publicly posting their disapproval on our site for all to see! As a result we edited our post, and all is good now. Re: A question Blogs and builders. 16May 03, 2009 10:01 am Wow and you guys haven't even started building yet! If DH says he checked out our blog, I'm all like "Did it sound OK?" Am I really strange or just a bit ??? I have three blogs, none of them are a secret, but most of my family and friends aren't interested. A few of them read my fitness blog, and I have no problem with that. My husband reads them all every day - he says it's the only way he knows what I've been up to. As for the builder, I have no idea if they've ever seen my building blog or not. But I've been honest about the process, and if that's not always to their credit, too bad.... I tell it like it is. I'll probably be posting shortly about the poor communication and slow process for the three-month maintenance program (we're now past five months and things are half-done or not started ). If they lifted their game, there'd be no need for any builder to worry about what clients might be saying online. Re: A question Blogs and builders. 18May 03, 2009 10:33 am lisanne Wow and you guys haven't even started building yet! hahaha! I know! It's made me think more about what I put on there and how I word it. But I'm not ommitting info because I've rubbed someone the wrong way! kek 'chelle If they lifted their game, there'd be no need for any builder to worry about what clients might be saying online. Exactly Re: A question Blogs and builders. 19May 03, 2009 5:22 pm I doubt my builder knows about my blog, but you never know who's lurking on these forums. Re: A question Blogs and builders. 20May 03, 2009 6:06 pm I stumbled across this site when I was looking for opinions about the builder I was thinking of using. I found one blog really helpful and it helped me make up my mind to choose that builder. Because of that I decided to do a blog about my build in case it helps anybody else looking at the same builder. It's also a great way to keep my family updated since they live all over the place and I even have strangers following it. I have no idea if my builder knows about it, I never told them and I don't care if they read it or not. I will give praise where it's due or criticism if it's warranted . Thanks again Simeon for being so elaborate. Appreciate it. Its gives us a very idea. Kind Regards 4 3692 I would say both styles you have pictured are steel.
