We have recieved our Certificate of Occupancy! Which means we are one step closer to getting the keys on Friday. The only problem is.. the address is wrong. Right lot no, wrong house no. It's been an issued right from the start as techincally our street had four of the same house numbers... silly silly. Hopefully it'll get fixed straight away so I can fax it to the bank. 3 more sleeps until it's ours... WOOO HOO. Okay.. i'm gonna go apply for my annual leave now. I'M IN, I'M HUNGOVER/STILL DRUNK AND I'M LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!!!! We get blinds & flyscreens installed today. Fridge will be delivered today. We are currently operating out of the beer fridge/breezer/jack/jager fridge until the new one arrives. Everything went smoothly on handover day. We arrived at 9am and had a look through. Very happy. I asked our SS if he was able to measure our kitchen pantry handle.. as we were going to get a new one to match the rest of the handles.. he said he'd get one from bunning for us.. and did and it was installed when we got back!!!! PD also installed our own dishwasher for us and we took the PD dishwasher to the MIL's house. We picked up the bank cheque at 11am with minimal fuss. We then picked up the keys and a pressie from PD. A small hamper with gardening gloves, a little digger thingy and some basil and corriander herbs. We then picked up a small load of things and I unpacked the kitchen things. We had a few visitors.. Dean & Shae who will be moving in down the road in a couple of weeks and my Mum. We then had to leave our wonderful house.. and go to a 3 year olds birthday dinner and have some cake.. MmmmmMMm Cake. We moved on Saturday with no breakages or loss. It was the perfect day.. no mud.. we were able to get up the mud pit which made moving EASIER. We hadn't been moved in the house less then 2 hours before someone was so drunk they fell off the dining room chair and we had to leave them on the floor.. and there were already kids playing in the bath.. CELEBRATIONS ALL AROUNDDDDDD. Angus (the fur face) is adjusting nicely. He hid under the bed for the first day.. but is up and exploring now. Anyways..i best be off and get unpacking/open another drink. I'M A HOME OWNERRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I'll put pics up later in the week!) Now.. can someone please tell me where i packed my camera cord?? Everything so far has been pretty good.. few little issues here and there: - Oven got fixed today.. the fan was stuffed as apparently the plumber didn't put the hose back in properly. All fixed. - Our alfresco slab pools water.. which isn't good. It should be sloped away so the water runs off it.. but instead after the rain last night we woke up to a brand new pool. DP spoke to our SS who said he'd speak to his boss.. but more often then not nothing will be done about it. - Water pressure sucks. But i do like the mixer tap. - Painting job isn't that swell. There is also paint on the carpet and the cleaner didn't try and get it off. - Tiles grouting wasn't cleaned/done properly.. so it looks like a white chalky substance is all over it.. which makes it look patchy/dirty. It seems to just be the floor tiles though which has me slightly worried. I still haven't had a chance to actually clean it.. as all our cleaning supplies were at our tempory accomodation. I really hope the grouting is one color once i've given it a good mop. - Driveway is DONE. We love it. We also had our alfresco concrete painted.. about an hour before the rain pooled in it.. And he's coming back to paint our portico to match our driveway too. - Our master bedroom door handle was stuffed.. and I actually got trapped in our room. Lucky DP was there to rescue me. It has since been fixed and works well. - All our blinds are installed. I love them. We have also put a sheer curtain in the Master Bedroom. All our flyscreens have also been installed. - Our $30 bunnings letterbox is up. - We have the right garage door now. I'm gonna go to JB Hi-Fi tommorrow to get a new camera cord if I can't find mine tonight. We don't have the internet set up at home.. so will have to come into work early to upload some photos for you. Thanks for listening!! My SS today said that the tiles will probably release salt or something, a white powdery substance and will do so for 4 to 5 cleans and then it should settle and that I should then seal the grouting so maybe it's that? He suggested contacting National Tiles about what grout sealer to use etc so I might do that as a job over Christmas or something 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' And I'm so glad you got the right garage door.... erinleigh Water pressure sucks. But i do like the mixer tap. New estates generally have lower water pressure than some older areas - it's a water-saving thing, nothing you can do about it. Check one thing though - have a look under the kitchen sink and check that the tap that's attached to your plumbing is turned all the way on. We were here three months, ***** about the water pressure before my husband thought to check under there and discovered that the water to the kitchen was barely ON. Re: Building Our Home with PD - Update 720Sep 22, 2009 2:09 pm That sooooo cool. You sound so happy, even with the issues (although,I would have totally freaked out if I got trapped in a room!)
