Re: Building Our New Home - Issues with Builder 2Mar 23, 2009 10:17 am Erin, I know what you mean about completion dates. It is a far cry from what they are actually contractually agreeing to, AND their penalities for going over their huge "actual" completion dates are tiny for them, thereby not giving buyers like us any peace of mind that they will try to meet the deadline anyway! I hope you go well. I think they will sting you for the glass upgrade... and I doubt PD will give you any benefit ($$$ back) to not pay for the door from PD and do it yourself later. Things don't alwaysgo to plan when building a new house just like for every day of rain they add on a few days some times a week due to rescheduling and stuff like that. I see it just like having a baby you might have a "due Date" but most of the you get in a bit later. I truly understand your frustrations and its really hard specially if its yoru first ever build. I understand that, however PD have added on an extra 5 weeks PLUS the additional days for weather, public holidays and christmas days. So it's 181 + 10 days weather, 55 days weekends, public holidays, ect and 28 days for christmas. So really its 274. Thats 9 months. It Should be just less then 8. Re: Building Our New Home - Issues with Builder 9Mar 23, 2009 1:20 pm So I've clarified things with my CSC regarding the building days. The 181 days is INCLUDING those weather, holidays and christmas days. And since we won't be needing the christmas days.. it'll be 153 days. I'm much happier with this. If only i could read contracts without needing an interperter. Haha. It's an additional 13 days on top for any variations to a house. But she said she'd still contact management regarding the website not being clear. Building with PD - Regent 23 Cascades on Clyde Estate HomeOne Building Thread - PCI Completed - 28th August. Re: Building Our New Home - Issues with Builder 14Mar 23, 2009 8:15 pm I just had to comment on this: Quote: It should be 140 days, not 181 Our builder has allowed 330 days and they will use every single one of them (we're up to 9.5 months now and still not close to finished) Good luck with your build. Re: Building Our New Home - Issues with Builder 15Mar 23, 2009 8:18 pm My builder had 276 days (signed in Oct '08) and has approx. 5 months to go to have the house complete and it is not even started as yet. Oztish were you able to get any compensation at all for the delays?? Re: Building Our New Home - Issues with Builder 16Mar 23, 2009 8:28 pm Tillie My builder had 276 days (signed in Oct '08) and has approx. 5 months to go to have the house complete and it is not even started as yet. Just a note that the days usually only start when construction starts, not when the contract is signed. This is usually your site cut. We signed our contract on 15th August 2008, but the builder (and thus the timer) only started on the 23rd December 2008. I'm guessing you are building a big double story house though - Erin and myself are building 23 and 21 sq houses respectively 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' He worked it out that from the 5th of December I can start subtracting days from the 276. I too was under the impression that it was only from when the builders are on site... Have also emailed this to the builder. Re: Building Our New Home - Issues with Builder 19Mar 25, 2009 4:10 pm So all our issues have been resolved. Our CSC has been FANTASTIC. We send emails to each other all day. We will be getting the standard garage door.. but in a timbergrain caoba color. Which is all included. (At least that's what I've been told.) We sorted out the building timeframe and am happy with this, just over 5 months now. And we are paying for the glass in the door.. even though it's a bit of a joke. We want to make sure it's all matching rather then attempting a DIY job. Our cooling off period ends tommorrow. Then we just need to sign the post contract variations and send through to the broker, and wait for approval from CBA. (which from what i've heard is taking a long time) I'll keep you guys updated, but until then.. here's a picture of our vacant land: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building with PD - Regent 23 Cascades on Clyde Estate HomeOne Building Thread - PCI Completed - 28th August.
