It may not be huge but it is such practical design and you get 3 living areas which is a bonus. We too have the monument roof with darker bricks. I love monument. Your kitchen is looking fab. Did you get the benchtop, sink and stove/hotplates in straight away? Love the vanity too. Have you got a handover date yet? You must be so excited you are almost there, goodluck with the rest of the build. Re: House to be... 45Jun 08, 2009 10:46 am Hi Leaht. Good to hear that you're building solo. House picture is LOOKING GREAT I'm so excited for you. Please post more updates =) Your parents must be really proud, i know mine are. They're almost as estatic as i am but it's such a wonderful feeling to know you have the final say! I'm somewhat in the same boat, sort of. I'm 24 and i'm flying solo with my new home-to-be. I'm just waiting for my land to settle right now and i'm building in north east victoria. My block is about 670sqm and i think my house size ends up being around 200sqm. Since i'm flying solo like yourself, certainly like the fact that i can go nuts with colour selection without having to bicker much with others. Also having fun that i don't have to justify what i'm going to use what room for what. Re: House to be... 46Jun 08, 2009 9:14 pm Love it leah!!! Looks great I'm so anxious to see mine now..... only upto bricking at the moment so still have a little way to go. Re: House to be... 48Jun 09, 2009 5:38 pm Kitchen and vanities are looking great. Re fridge space - It depends on the make/design of the fridge. We have a Whirlpool double door one and it vents from the bottom and blows air out the front, therefore it only needs 1.5cm each side. However, a fridge that vents from the back will need breathing space all around it, normally 5-10cm on each side and more at the top. Best to check with the manufacturer. Re: House to be... 49Jun 09, 2009 10:58 pm wow.. how did I miss this thread!! another caraway and I totally missed this thread.. you need to change your subject line to something that stands out more.. I see you already have your oven and stove.. looks like they do that earlier in the country... down here they would get stolen in a flash.. that is one great thing about the country, not as many thefts on a building site. Anyway house looks great... we are getting close to handover and I couldn't recommend JG King enough to anyone else looking to build. I was in a tiling shop over the weekend and they had the same border tiles as you are having for your bathroom. I fell in love with them straight away so I am interested to see what they will look like once they are up! What colour colourbond is your roof?? Hey this is a pretty random question, but how much benchspace (in cm's) do you have either side of your hotplates? I've just had a look at my kitchen plan and I have barely any benchspace there It would drive me crazy not having much room to work over that side of the kitchen, but I dont have too much room to extend the bench - about the amount you have would be perfect! Nat, I don't have heaps of bench space but i think it'l be enough for me. I figure the more bench space you have the more mess you make. I've got 60cm each side of the cooktop. Building with JG king start date 11/3/09 Re: House to be...kitchen pics 8/6/09 56Jun 10, 2009 7:38 pm WOW its all looking great I love the colours and really love the window in the kitchen I have left about 3 inches each side of my fridge, as I wanted it to sit flush with the cupboards so had to allow for the door thickness when opening, could have done with a little bit more space though. We can open the doors about 90 degrees when flush but if I want to pull out draws and trays for cleaning I would have to pull the fridge out of the recess a bit more. If your fridge is going to sit forward of the cupboards I think you would only need to leave about an inch for air. Re: House to be...kitchen pics 8/6/09 59Jun 12, 2009 9:25 am Painting well i'm loving the colour they have only done undercoat and windowsils as of yesterday so i'll go up there and take some pics this morning before work. Although when i went yesterday my lovely front wood door that is supposed to be stained has been painted the same colour as my internal walls! Was not happy, now they have to replace the whole door! Don't you think that if i upgrade to a lovely wood door that i wouldn't want it painted over! Anyway little stuff up which can easily be fixed, however i'm not paying for their stuff up. The painter read it wrong when he was figuring out all the colours. Will hopefully have some more photos soon. Then i was informed yesterday that tiling may not start straight after the painting apparently hes far behind!!
