Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 22, 2009 2:28 pm Hi Everyone. I've been on this site practically every day for about the past 6 months. Reading everyones posts have been very helpful, and my build has finally started so i thought that i would share it with everyone. I am 23yrs old and doing the bulid solo. I have had a tight budget and have stuck to it so far. I'm buliding with JG king homes in a small town in western victoria. I'm buliding the Caraway 175 with minor changes. So far the process has been really good and fairly qiuck to this point. I have been waiting to bulit for the last 12 months as waiting for a good deposit and realiable job. I purchased my block of land and it settled 1st of July 08. My block is 724m2 and got it for a bargain in a new estate in my town however it has yet to really take off. I'm the 7th house to be built in the area. Now the fun begins. My slab just got laid on friday and the bulit started offically on the 11/03/09. Can't wait till its finished!! Hopefully i'll be able to post pictures for everyone as i love photos as much as everyone else- having a bit of trouble with the pictures, i'll figure it out eventually.
Re: House to be... 2Mar 22, 2009 2:35 pm Welcome to Homeone Leaht. Congratulations on your slab and here is hoping that your build goes smoothly. The easiest way to post photos is to open a photo account at somewhere like photobucket. They provide a link that you paste into your thread and voila - a photo appears. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: House to be... 3Mar 22, 2009 4:42 pm Hopefully these photos work. yes i know there is a far few. http://s724.photobucket.com/albums/ww247/housetobe/ Building with JG king start date 11/3/09 Re: House to be... 4Mar 22, 2009 6:44 pm Congrats on the slab leah. Its something i always wanted to do and this way there is no fighting over any colour schemes or anything like that. And i am loving the whole process so far. I am just house crazy at the moment, most people just don't get it. Hopefully my photos worked, i can't seem to get them to show up on the same page like everyone else, but thanks to Kyton i got some photos up i think. But the only thing we all have to get used to now is that the photos have to be under a certain pixel size - this is something new since the upgrade. Love your tile selections!! Some things are worth waiting for. Re: House to be... 8Mar 23, 2009 1:50 am leaht I am just house crazy at the moment, most people just don't get it. It's ok mate - we get it Love your colour and tile selections by the way! After 2 false starts, a year living overseas, two more world trips and 3 years of uncertainty we are now starting the build process again - hopefully for real this time! Re: House to be... 10Mar 23, 2009 3:29 pm Finally i have worked out how to post a picture properly so here they are: (i love photos as you can tell) i think the problem was that my pictures were too big. i think they look better bigger, oh well First things first this is me and my block of land Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And my selections, top left is my carpet, top right is my wall tiles for laundry, bathroom and ensuite. Middle is my feature tile for bathroom and ensuite (a strip will run vertical in my shower and also vertical on my bath and bath wall) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Same picture however with my other colour selections- top square is my wall paint throughout house called Silverberry (Haymes). Bottom left- kitchen cupboards, polar white flint finish. Middle bottom- benchtops, ebony marble gloss finish. Bottom right- Ensuite and bathroom vanities, burnished wood. Other colour selection that is not there is colourbond monument for my roof, fascia and gutter. And black for my windows. My whole colour scheme is black, grey and white. Then i can add different colours later, i just wanted base colours that don't date. Also my garage door is a contemporary classic cedar look, And a timber front door with glass panels. Congrats on the slab, and congratulations on doing it solo, and so young - great effort, and what a great example to other younger people out there ! I love your feature tile - stunning - can't wait to see that one go in! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: House to be... 12Mar 23, 2009 6:03 pm Thanks Petal. Here is a floor plan. All up including garage and alfresco is 229m2. I know its small compared to most of you, but its only me (and 2 dogs) at the moment so i think it'll be big enough for me. If i had a bigger budget i would have a bigger house and more upgrades. It just takes so long to get everything to this point already, most poeple don't understand. People i work with just think everything happens quick and they expected the whole build to take about 8-12 wks, yeah right! Sammy_sj- wow we have the same kitchen colours, how far are you with your bulid? We obviously have good taste LOL.
