First thing I'd do is add a door from the garage into the laundry. Still keep the hallway access, but this means you have access to the trough to wash hands if working on cars etc and to dump work/gardening clothes without going through the house. also give quick access to the toilet from the garage as well. You may lose a little bench space but it would be worth it IMO. I like how guest can access the toilet without having to go past the minor bedrooms as they are at the opposite end of the hallway. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Pls comment on my floorplan 3Mar 18, 2009 6:52 pm I like the design, I wish we had enlarged our garage to include some storage space.
Hope it all works out well Re: Pls comment on my floorplan 5Mar 18, 2009 9:08 pm Another alternative is to flip the bedrooms and laundry section so that the laundry/bathroom is at the rear of the property to alleviate traipsing the full length of that section with washing if you are having a clothesline at the back of the property. If you use a dryer all year round then no need to consider this. If you did do this then I would also move the door between this area and the familys/meals area as well.
Is there a door at the rear of the garage into the back yard? Re: Pls comment on my floorplan 7Mar 19, 2009 10:38 am Thanks all for your valuable comments!
Joles, your idea of having a door from the laundry directly to the garage is great but I think I will have to fight with my better half about enroaching her valuable shelf space. If you notice there is about 4m long of shelving space multiply that with 4 shelves... klscomps, thanks for the suggestions. My reasons for having the laundry on the left is that area is a dead space (where I plan to hide my washings, hot water heater and rainwater tank). I believe my rainwater tank will occupy almost the entire width of the left side of the house, creating the dead space. The dead space is also the reason I am not planning to put a backyard door from the gargae. Re: Pls comment on my floorplan 9Mar 20, 2009 10:03 am Hi Siegestrike, I think you misunderstood my flipping idea. Leave the laundry on the left but flip that whole left section that is behind the garage. Just wasn't sure how much room you had down that side and where you would put the clothesline.
Seems you are getting plenty of ideas thrown your way so at least you have food for thought. Re: Pls comment on my floorplan 10Mar 20, 2009 4:45 pm how can all of you see the image? It's so small...tried to go to the link to see it but can seem to make it work... 2 6424 |
