The shed is 6 x 12 but we insulated a part of it (6 x 4.5 for the room that we are using as bedroom/kitchen/lounge and 2.5 x 1.8 for the little ensuite). We cook using a single butane cooker that you can store in one of the kitchen drawers. Not ideal but we open the door while cooking and light an incense stick after and the smell is gone. We use the little dish drainer set that you get from ikea. We have a queen bed. We are comfortable and we are ok with it. We have our fridges, microwave, pantry, wardrobes in the uninsulated part of the shed (apart from it being our storage). The space will be back to being a bar after. Here is a picture of our shed. The first door on the left is the way to the rest of the shed, the next door is to the ensuite. You can see the house that we are currently building at the front. Our washing machine is outside and we just cover it with a tarp. Our dryer is in another smaller shed on the other end. We have gas cylinder for hot water for in the shed only. The house will be a different story. We will have solar hot water with electric backup. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Very nice setup How did you go with the council? Were they happy with it all? Living in a Shed During Construction? 60Feb 15, 2016 10:42 am Hi Sloppy. It was fine cos we put in plans for the house at the same time. ie they know that we are building and the space will only be used temporarily. As for me personally, as much as it is a nice room (ie this room is way better than the apartment that I used to stay in Adelaide), I am looking forward to have the house built and be able to move in it. It's good that my partner and I do not dislike each other! Lol.
