Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 15, 2009 9:42 pm Hi Everyone,
As we are nearing site start I thought it was time I started my own thread. So a little bit about us...... This will be mine and DH first home together. We recently got married at the end of November and we are currently living at my mums house. We have a separate granny flat out the back with our own bedroom and lounge room so still have our own space. We found our block of land in August last year and as it was on the same road as the park so I had to have it. We put our deposit down and then waited for our block to settle in December. Our block is 828sqm and is in Freeling. For those of you that don't know Adelaide very well it's basically in the Barossa Valley..... or those of you that are TV buffs you may have heard of it through Mclouds Daughters. After we put our deposit down on the land we then started looking for a house that suited what we wanted. I had to drag DH kicking and screaming through display homes. He wasn't too interested in the actual design just gave me a list of must haves We then found the Leabrook by Statesman. It was perfect for us. We haven't actually been inside this house as it isn't on display We then started the ball rolling with them in October...../ which was just after the FHOG boost was announced so we were very happy Our plans have been approved by council and are currently with the certifier. We should have site start sometime towards the mid to end of April. I have posted the standard floor plan below (hope it works). The only major changes that we made were: * Extended the linen cupboard * Changed the sliding door in the meals area and also the two rumpus windows to french doors * Enclosed the front of the Carport and added a panel lift door I will upload some photo's in the next few days Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Our First Home - **Photo's Galore 07/09** 2Mar 15, 2009 10:09 pm Hi,
Congrats!!! Im sure you are both very excited and eager for things to start happening. I really like the open plan living area you have there. Look forward to hearing about the progress and seeing all those wonderful photos when they start on site. We are currently in the beginning stages and have just had site scrape done. My DH already says im too excited for my own good Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! Now tackling the HUGE task of the Garden- viewtopic.php?f=31&t=14782 Re: Our First Home - **Photo's Galore 07/09** 3Mar 17, 2009 7:08 pm howdy neighbour...you must be getting excited know with an intended start date approaching...
we are still probably 8 weeks from settlement on the land..it will be good to watch the progress of your build as we call into the estate every couple of weeks to see what is happening.. next time you go over to freeling we should try and catch up, considering we are going to be neighbours.. http://buildingatfreeling.blogspot.com/ Building at Freeling Estate Adelaide MKII WE ARE NOW OFFICIALLY FIRST HOME OWNERS AND WE BUILT A NEW HOME FROM SCRATCH Re: Our First Home - **Photo's Galore 07/09** 4Mar 17, 2009 10:51 pm Mellybuilding - We really like the open plan area too. I don't think you can be too excited for your own good as this is a major milestone in your life whether it be you first house or your third house. Thats what I think anyway as I'm really excited too
Craig and Amy - Yes we are getting excited.... Hopefully there are no surprises that delay the start of our build. This whole administration side of the build is a very long drawn out process Is the bank holding up your settlement or the developer? Hopefully it all sorts it self out soon. We went to the estate a couple of weeks ago to see what has been happening. The park is looking very nice...... I'm sure our future kids will have lot's of fun playing there I like the silver wheat poles at the entrance of the main road they look interesting. Our neighbour to the left also had all their dirt dug out ready for a slab (which they probably have by now) . The next time we go will probably be just prior to site start to check all are pegs are still visible. It would be good to catch up and meet each other. Maybe we could have lunch?? We generally go on Saturdays as DH plays soccer on Sundays. Do you live close by?? I was looking at the freeling website the other day and the developer is offering $5000 to first home owners. This should bring some more younger couples/families to the area which is good. Re: Our First Home - **Photo's Galore 07/09** 5Mar 18, 2009 8:03 pm yeah we live in truro which is 20mins away via the highway, but we are always in freeling dropping of the kid to the grandparents for babysitting...
Our settlement has been held up by the bank..when we catchup one day I will tell you the story..anyway good luck with the build..we are hoping not to be to far way hopefully by EOY or early next year.. http://buildingatfreeling.blogspot.com/ Building at Freeling Estate Adelaide MKII WE ARE NOW OFFICIALLY FIRST HOME OWNERS AND WE BUILT A NEW HOME FROM SCRATCH Re: Our First Home 6Mar 26, 2009 9:01 pm Well I'm very pleased to announce that we have received unconditional approval from CBA today. The off the plan valuation came in at exactly what we needed too which was great because I was starting to panic after read other peoples posts. I felt this huge weight lift off my shoulders when I found out. Hopefully our file will be released to construction tomorrow and we should have a slab within the next few weeks. Oh and I will upload some photos once I find my USB cord Samantha Building the Leabrook by Statesman at Freeling My Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15237 We are now in our house!! I've used Michelle's colour template Internals Ceiling /Cornice - White Walls - First Snow Skirting / Architrave - First Snow Doors - First Snow Externals Roof - Boral - Capri Ebony Gutters - Monument Fascia - Monument Downpipes - C/B Armour Grey Bricks - PGH Bianca Render - C/B Armour Grey Eaves - Off White Windows - Satin Black Doors - Front Door - Solver Black Magic with a metallic glass insert Panel Lift door - Cedar Colourgrain The grey render sounds a little strange with cream bricks but we found a display home that had these colours and it looked great. Re: Our First Home 9Mar 26, 2009 9:54 pm Your colours sound really nice .....is the PGH Bianca similar to the Boral Bianca?? Yep, some colour combos on paper can sound weird....it makes it much easier when you see them in real life. Have you got pics of your colour selections. thorney Ya, I'm one of the ones who are still anxiously awaiting formal approval from the CBA (3 weeks today in fact )....how long were you waiting on yours may l ask? Dunno if you missed this but thought l'd ask again, lol. Re: Our First Home 10Mar 26, 2009 10:07 pm I just googled the Boral Bianca and it pretty much looks like the same brick. I don't think i have any pics of the colours.... I'll work on that Sorry I did see that part of the post but totally forgot I think ours took 5-6 weeks in total...... in saying that though the bank came back to us after about 3 weeks as we needed to sign another document that we had missed earlier and we took about a week to do that(slackness on our part). Our mortgage broker actually told me yesterday that a valuer wasn't going out to the block until tomorrow and that we would hear back mid to late next week. So you could imagine how shocked I was when we found out today that everything was done Samantha Building the Leabrook by Statesman at Freeling My Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15237 We are now in our house!! Thanks jessica.....frustrating isn't it? Good luck to you too mate, seeing you've been waiting a week more than me, you may be lucky and hear something next week.....well you should really...having to wait over 4 weeks is getting ridiculous Re: Our First Home 13Mar 27, 2009 9:23 pm Here is a couple of photo's of our block This is looking from the road to the back of the block Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is looking from the back of the block to the road Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Samantha Building the Leabrook by Statesman at Freeling My Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15237 We are now in our house!! I'll have to take my nephew with us next time we come up so he can see it. craigandamy - I was just wondering.... do you guys work locally or do you have to travel a little bit for work?? I work at Mawson Lakes and my DH works at Salisbury so will take us about 40 mins to get to work. Hopefully once the expressway opens up it will eliminate a lot of the traffic off Main North Road Samantha Building the Leabrook by Statesman at Freeling My Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15237 We are now in our house!!
