Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 14, 2009 5:26 pm Hi everyone
We are looking at upgrading to a Timber Look type of door. Our builder uses B&D but their 2 colours really don't suit what we are after. After discovering that you can get other colours but they are Powdercoated doors rather than colorbond "metal bonded" doors, our builder told us that the powdercoated ones tend to be easier to chip and look shabby after a few years. He said the colorbond doors are much more resilient. Just wanted to get people's opinions on what they have experienced with the powdercoated doors.....if you know you have one! Thanks Flaksy Re: Timber Look Garage Doors - Powdercoated? 2Mar 15, 2009 5:12 pm Powdercoat is what's on your windows and on most manufactured items used outdoors. It is fairly resilient if it's applied properly, it does not easily chip. But a 2 pack wetcoat outlasts them all - including Colorbond.

Looking at the Boston Oak ones, it appears that the colour varies significantly… 0 9185 It's a classic case of aesthetics subjugating function where style takes precedence over practicality. 3 3945 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15924 |
