Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 13, 2009 8:44 am I am getting 2 duplexes built and my builder just told me that we need to change the slabs from class "M" to "H". He is asking for $3300. Can anyone tell if he is not over-pricing it and can you physically tell the difference between class "M' and "H" slabs, if you can , than how??? Re: Slab cost 3Mar 13, 2009 11:23 am not yet. I have asked builder to send me the report. But what I am unsure about is the cost of class "H" slabs- how much dearer they are from "M" class and can I physically differentiate them- is their any label on slabs?? Re: Slab cost 4Mar 13, 2009 12:02 pm Slabs are all custom designed. No two slabs are the same so it makes it hard.
M class can usually use lighter guage steel and you will not have to make your foundations as deep. The only way to know for sure if to have two designs of the slab one for M class and the other for H class. Then calculate the difference in concrete and steel. Re: Slab cost 5Mar 13, 2009 2:41 pm Our builder does not charge any extra for a standard M class slab.
Ours is a H and we are up for an additional $10k. The size is 34.5 sq I would love for it to be only $3300!! Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 16156 4 6201 The concreter will take and reuse. In my case I bought structural LVLs and scraped them back and used them as joists. 1 5160 |
