Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 11, 2007 2:07 am Hi,
I am building my house in North Mexico, where it can be extremely hot in summer. I am taking pictures almost every day. Our technics seem to be very different than in Australia, and some of it may give you a few ideas. http://www.casadechihuahua.com/construccion.html In the mean time, I am absorbing your building ideas and I really enjoy it. I am specifically interested in swimming pool water heating, and solar panels for fans. Bet you can't wait! I went to Mexico years ago but only to Tijuana which doesn't really show the true mexico does it? Where are you? Re: Comparison with home building in Mexico with pics 7Mar 19, 2007 1:48 am Shooey,
Indeed, Mexico is also a huge country, and has nothing to do with TIjuana which is an ugly bordertown and a playground for US citizens to do things unauthorized in their country. Vlad, My direct neighbours are ex-governors, and I would estimate their houses at a price slightly above 500 000 US dollars. I suppose that my pics don't do it any justice. But yes, I would rather have 2 acres of forest land than 2 ex-governors in the neighbourhood - I am really interested in passive energy. If you guys had any internet site about the subject, would you please let me know ? - Wood is very expensive here, because around my town this is just a large desert. Building a wood house would cost me a fortune, while cement is quite cheap (9 US dollars a bag). Why is there so few cement houses in Australia ? Is this our of fashion, or not ecological enough, or too expensive ? I am surprised to see a quantity of wooden house in hurricane areas like Broome. Re: Comparison with home building in Mexico with pics 8Mar 19, 2007 6:58 pm Great build, Nice to see how they do it in other countries. A place like that would be nice here in England , but the walls would have to be 10 foot higher with barbed wire or broken glass along the top, To keep the low life out !
