Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 11, 2009 8:59 pm Hi everybody
I have been following many of the threads over the past month while we decided who to build with. So we have finally decided on the plans, now the decisions begin. We have looked as almost every brick ever made and would like to go with The Following Brick - PGH Chiara Roof Tile - CSR Monier Traditional Wild Rice Gutters/Fascia/Windows/Garage - Colorbond Dune. I would like to know your opinions on can you see this working. We not good visualisers. I have searched and can not find how to post pic so here is the location of them on my blog? Would like to know so I can post my front elevation and call on the DON http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_TjUH8tMVhRU/S ... eArray.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_TjUH8tMVhRU/S ... ighres.jpg Look Forward to your thoughts _____________________________________________________________ Building a Masterton Villina - Contemporary http://mynottsbuildavillina.blogspot.com/ Re: New to the Forum and need help with Bricks and Tiles 2Mar 11, 2009 10:26 pm Hi and welcome to the forum.
I'm in Vic and have absolutely no idea about your brick. But the wild rice is a similar colour to Dune isn't it? So it should look good with the brick from your pics. I'd probably introduce another colour though, cos it's all very similar. Is there any render? Or maybe you could have different colour fascia or guttering rather than all dune? Sorry, not much help am I? I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: New to the Forum and need help with Bricks and Tiles 3Mar 11, 2009 10:42 pm welcome to H1
Love your brick....love the tiles...love dune too ...but not all together. I agree with joles it's all very sameish and l think will make for a farly bland fascade. If your fascade has some render?? that may make all the difference, but it depends how much render....a small portico or wall might not be enough to give the home that bit of character l reckon it needs. If you love the bricks and roof as is, then l'd definitely have a different color gutter/windows/fascia/garage (to all or some)...to bring more balance to the look. Have you got a pic or a link to the fascade?? Would love to see your floorplan too! Re: New to the Forum and need help with Bricks and Tiles 4Mar 11, 2009 10:57 pm hi there, I agree with the guys above, you need to have some contrast with these colours, if you had a nice contrast on your gutters and maybe some render at the front, that might do it, but I think it may be better to change one of the colours. Have a look at homes around new estates to get an idea of what appeals to you and why. That's what we did for days before we made our choices - so many choices!!!

Heres a copy of my thread, i cant upload any more photos cause im on a work server, there are photos on a a few of the pages here with the coloring we have used https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.p ... 883#118883 Re: New to the Forum and need help with Bricks and Tiles 6Mar 15, 2009 2:37 pm I like the colours!!
But to throw a different perspective on it I actually like it when the guttering/fascia match the roof tiles so that it doesn't look like a band running across the house. Your window frames could be a different colour if you want to throw another colour into the mix. With driveway and landscaping there are going to be a lot of other colours and textures coming into the complete picture as well. Take your time and get around to as many new estates as possible to see what you like and don't like. Don't dismiss a certain colour just because you have seen something with that you didn't like. Was it perhaps the whole picture you didn't like and perhaps it works well being used in other ways. At the end of the day we are all individuals and have our own likes and dislikes. Go with what you like!! Re: New to the Forum and need help with Bricks and Tiles 7Mar 16, 2009 9:51 pm Thanks Guys!
Good to here all your opinions. We think that we have decided on the same bricks and tiles but will brake it all up with Jasper Guttering and similar windows. We will also have the Dune Downpipes and Garage door as we found a house with this and looked really good. This week I will learn how to post pics and load on the floor plan so you all can have a look. 2 31355 In Victoria you cannot put a caveat on arising from a domestic building contract. 65 112440 They already have two well known ones (HIA & MBA) that many new home buyers mistakenly think are regulatory bodies that Joe Public can complain to. 6 18029 |
