Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Help me decide what brick colour and front door to go for? 41Mar 30, 2009 5:58 pm And think of how expensive the window furnishing would be on that window!!! I only ever saw it once in real life on an Allworth Home and said to DH - well that would have to go!! Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Help me decide what brick colour and front door to go for? 42Mar 30, 2009 7:40 pm mellybuilding gettingThere mellybuilding I love the third pic you posted at the start. with the feature bricks down the middle. I think that will add a lot of character and give great street appeal. I like lighter bricks something like castellano by pgh then the centre bricks (feature) being darker. Maybe PGH mocha. then dark roof and dark timber door. ahhh. that is a great looking house. I really think the third pic you posted will look great. I can't seem to find mocha on their website Did you mean castillo or castellano. I can't seem to find castellano either I am probably looking in the wrong place http://www.pghclay.com.au/Bricks/Default.aspx under SA I remebered those of the top of my head. Ill jump on the site and have a search after dinner. I really like that garage door you have posted though. that looks hot mellybuilding. Where are youuuu Re: Help me decide what brick colour and front door to go for? 43Mar 30, 2009 7:47 pm I like both colour garages. As for the window ~ agree with others about cleaning and furnishing issues! Also consider whether it might look weird having the second storey floor (assuming there is one) exposed through the window? Also assuming there is a floor there, whether from the inside the window might appear to cut off or disappear away to nothing... The mega window idea is now out the window Any brick colour combination suggestions guys? Re: Please help us choose our colour scheme :) 45Apr 02, 2009 3:50 pm I've now updated my first post. Would love to hear your opinions guys Re: Please help us choose our colour scheme :) 46Apr 02, 2009 3:55 pm I personally don't like two different bricks together. I think it's faddish and will be very dated, very quickly. Sorry. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Please help us choose our colour scheme :) 47Apr 02, 2009 4:07 pm Normally I hate the "dated" argument but I must say that I agree with Joles here. I think that you have chosen a fairly regal / classic facade but using those two bricks make it look not so nice. I think that there would be better combinations. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Please help us choose our colour scheme :) 48Apr 02, 2009 9:03 pm Yeah I normally hate the dated argument as well.... I usually don't worry about things dating at all.... Re: Please help us choose our colour scheme :) 50Apr 14, 2009 2:12 pm We have chosen a Cedar look Panel Lift door, fingers crossed it looks okay, we changed our mind about 3 times before we made the decision, we originally wanted ironstone to match the roof, then dune to match the render, then we saw a Cedar look and think it will break up the look a bit but we are a bit concerned because the door is 5.5mtrs wide! Where are youuuu I amm HEEEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! sorry I had PGH saved in favourites but it defaults to queensland, that why you couldnt see the castellano. sorry I had another look on the PGH site and I really think that two tone is the way to go. But i would render the middle section as a feature in a light colour and then leave the rest as bricks in either PGH biscuit or cafe latte. Then on the front of the house put outdoor lights, the ones that have look like a cylinder and have the light going both up and down either side of the door on the rendered feature wall. like the lights rachelle posted on the first pic , but just have them lower down.that would look awesome. Beacause of the lighter render the timber entrace door would look great and you could match that to the timbergrain caoba garage door. Living in Caloundra Thread****** Lovin my house all finished!!! Now tackling the HUGE task of the Garden- viewtopic.php?f=31&t=14782 Re: Please help us choose our colour scheme :) 52Apr 14, 2009 4:22 pm I have thought long & hard about garage doors. One thing I was taught some time ago was to not make the garage dominate the front of the house. On that basis I suggest having a garage door the same colour as the bricks. I seriously investigated timber-look garage doors. I have only seen one that really looks like timber - from a company called "Steel-Line" - the product is "Thermotek". Beware of normal timber-look door (which I think is readily identifiable when you drive down a steet as it looks fake). If you do get a timber or timber-look garage door, make sure it matches exactly the colour of your front door and any other timber on the facade. Re: Please help us choose our colour scheme :) 53Apr 14, 2009 4:32 pm Don't make the house too busy with more than one colour of brick. Choose one colour & stick to it. If you want brick colour variation, a house in Adeliade would be suited to having quoins. Do you mean like this sort of thing: http://www.drstucco.com/images/Primerose%20quoins.jpg Quoins come any many types. Just take a brief drive around Adelaide and you will see many examples, the most basic of which is to have perhaps red bricks with cream brick quoins in the corners. If you don't want to drive around, look on realestate.com.au I'm renovating - building a small extension at the back of the late Edwardian house. This is the first stage. Second stage of the renovation will be to replace roof on… 0 1085 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7158 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3267 |
