Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 09, 2009 5:10 pm Ok, so we didn't ask the question & just assumed that the builder would put a wall mounted switch inside the garage to open the door when the remotes are not at hand.
But guess what.. Every house previous has had this when the garage door is motorised and we just thought that this was part and parcel, obviously not! I know that we can also open it manually but that is just a PITA. Has anyone else on the forum had this issue or did you get this as standard with your remote operated garage door? Re: Internal switch for garage door? 3Mar 09, 2009 6:09 pm brittany  What brand is your rollerdoor? I need to check mine is going to have one - I use that function soooooooo much! It's the usual B & D panel lift door with two remotes. We are going to ask the question at our pre-handover inspection in the next couple of weeks. I just can't believe that if it wasn't 'the norm' why it wasn't offered as an option. It's certainly something that we use frequently. Re: Internal switch for garage door? 4Mar 09, 2009 6:20 pm The unit will have an operation on the back of it if its one of the std chain driven units they use, but for a short person would be very hard to reach. Simple solution is just get another remote controll and mount it on the wall.. done done and done. Re: Internal switch for garage door? 5Mar 09, 2009 6:34 pm My current rental one doesn't have one, but if you take the cover off the unit there is a button on the bottom of it.. So I just leave the cover off.
In my new house it states in the contract that there is a wall button, which will be very handy. Re: Internal switch for garage door? 8Mar 09, 2009 7:55 pm At hand over we got two keyring remotes and a square (bigger than a cigarette packet) plastic remote that we have installed on the garage wall. Maybe you'll get something the same?

Re: Internal switch for garage door? 12Mar 09, 2009 8:15 pm Dee, I think you'll find that you will get three. One for the garage and two for your keyring or car. There is no way you'd wanting to be using the ceiling mounted unit.
Hysterical, the PD customers that I know have all got the same as me so I'm guessing it's standard. Happy at Home Re: Internal switch for garage door? 14Mar 10, 2009 5:14 pm I had my B&D panel lift door installed recently. Included in the bag with all the installation booklets, remotes etc was what looked like a light switch. I'm assuming that this is to be drilled to a location of my choice and I presume like the remotes, operate on a wireless signal.
I assume it came standard for me, but my partner organised the door through his connections so can't really tell you 100%. I suggest giving B&D a call to see if you can purchase it separately.
