Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 07, 2009 10:40 pm Has anyone bargained the price of a house down???
The builder we are looking at (infact we have 2). One is JG K1NG, the other is Rawd0n Hill. Th prices are very similar but gj are taking off 6k due to a tiny promo thing. Rawd0n have no promos so the price is just that little bit too high. We couldnt afford ANY hiccups! We prefer rawd0n hill as the inclusions are better but we need to knock off a few k's!! We dont need any extras as such as the house has what we want in the standard inclusions! Has anyone got the price of a house down??? Thanks Re: Anyone had luck with bargaining? What did u bargain? 2Mar 08, 2009 7:20 am we didn't bargain our house down but we did manage to re negotiate the payment percentage schedule to our advantage so that much more was paid for the final payment. This will reduce the amount of interest we will be paying and the amount owing to the bank until late in the build. it also reduced the amount of time we'd be paying money to the bank and rent. we are almost at lockup and this will be the first time we have to use a small amount of the banks share of the building money. In normal circumstances we would be using quite a lot of bank money for our next payment amount. Our final payment is 33% of the build instead of the standard 10-15% ( can't remember what it normally is)
The only other way to "bargain" is getting inclusions at a good price but I'm yet to be convinced the builders don't just markup prices elsewhere. Re: Anyone had luck with bargaining? We bargained our block down by $30k and bargained the house down by $20k, so we are very happy with that saving!
