Us country folk need at least a 10 hour trip to class it as long distance. Yeah..it's weird l know!!....whenever we have to drive to Melb, DH and l swap over the driving anywhere between Avenel & Seymour .....heck, I can't stand the drive out to Lavington even......and that's with the new bypass! I love driving!! it relaxes me and when I got my new car (almost 2 years ago!) I did the frist 1000km's in 2 days 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Lol! l'm loving the whole Twilight epic mate, but not enough to warrant a 3hr drive to Melb l'm afraid ..l'm absolutely hanging to see Twilight though! (ya, l caught the twilight bug late, lol) Re: Loft - Colorbond Roof ....Help Needed! 66Mar 18, 2009 9:59 pm that last picture shows the dark purple I was talking about... the other pics also show how much lighter it looks in the sun. See l drive all day when l'm working.....so that's the major reason why l dislike driving for long periods of time. WBA - yeah the freeway is absolutely great. In our new house, it will literally take us 3-4 minutes to get to Albury CBD Re: Loft - Colorbond Roof ....Help Needed! 68Mar 19, 2009 5:33 am Thorney, those pictures are great. It is a nice looking house which should give you confidence that yours will look amazing. We are hoping to get our bricks delivered today or tomorrow Re: Loft - Colorbond Roof ....Help Needed! 69Mar 19, 2009 9:25 am WOW Thorney thank you so much.
It can differ so much, I didn't realise how "light" it can look in full sun, I think it will be fine with my dark bricks, What you all think? Happy at Home Re: Loft - Colorbond Roof ....Help Needed! 71Mar 22, 2009 8:38 pm HTB: Thank you for the reassurance, I'm very nervous about it! I think with the garage door, fascias, windows and gutters in a light colour, I think it will be fine. It sounds terrible when you tell people your roof is a purpley colour and bricks are blue... I really hope it works out for the best! Building Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=13002 Site start: 8th July 2009 Handover: 11/12/2009! 5 months total build time. 40 sqs of luxuary...Bliss! Re: Loft - Colorbond Roof ....Help Needed! 72Mar 23, 2009 7:11 pm The Loft looks great on that house, it looks like a great colour choice. Is it me, or is that downpipe on the front of the display house annoying anyone else. It seems to be a strange place to put one, on a pillar right next to a light. The pillar is a bit of a feature and the downpipe is taking away from that. Sorry to hijack the thread but it's just annoying me. I would think they would put more thought about where downpipes should be placed on a display home or any home for that matter. I didn't notice.. but can't really think of any other place it could go at the front.. I think for the front downpipe that is probably the best spot.. I didn't notice it either...only because my main focus is on the roof, lol....but yeah, now that l've seen, it would bug the hell out of me....it wrecks the effects of the lightfittings. If they couln't move it elsewhere, they should've at least painted the downpipe to match the bricks and the render bits. Re: Loft - Colorbond Roof ....Help Needed! 76Mar 24, 2009 7:28 am My last builder would never put downlights on the front always around the side. I dont think this builder has also Oops I'd better go and check Its funny its one of those things you dont think about until someone points it out I do agree that downpipe next to the light would bug the hell out of me! Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Loft - Colorbond Roof ....Help Needed! 77Mar 26, 2009 7:06 pm Today, on my weekly drive past our block (l don't why l bother, it's not as is anything is going to change! lol) l saw that the house 3 doors down has got the frame, trusses and gutters/fascia up....and from my very slow drive past (didn't want to stop as the tradies were there) and looking through tinted windows, it appeared that the gutter and fascia was either jasper or gasp....loft!!! The reason l'm not sure what colours they are is that at first look it seemed the gutter was jasper and then fasica loft. But then, that is a bit of a weird combo you think? So it may be jasper gutter and fascia...but l dunno if the fascia would come up much darker (unless by shadow?). So it leads me to believe that it is the Loft gutter (l've seen it before and it never looks purple no matter what kind of light there is) and fascia (which l have not seen in real life). I so wanted to stop, get out and take a closer look but was too embarrassed too, lol. In one way, it would be cool if it was Loft but on the other hand, l was really hoping that we'd be the only house in our street with it (does that sound silly?). I'll get over it if it is all Loft...and if they are having colorbond then they'll probably have Loft for the roof.....l hope not but l will get over it.....but if they end up having similar bricks to ours too then, oh gosh, l'll be crushed Anyhoo, l'm gonna email our friends (who live next door to said house) and ask them to check out the colours and tell me what colour the roof is as soon as they start. DH thinks l'm being silly, but as l said to him, we are building a huge house and with a triple garage it's gonna be the only one in the estate with one, but having the Loft was just gonna set it really apart from anything else....and l really liked that. Having something similar just 3 doors away kind of ruins it. Gosh l sound petty, am l? Re: Loft - Colorbond Roof ....Help Needed! 78Mar 26, 2009 7:11 pm Three doors away is actually alot. Maybe once the houses go up in between then you won't notice that you have the same (provided the other two don't use loft!) colour. Being a new colour maybe it might be a bit more popular? I found when taking those pics at Laurimar the other week that the colour changed alot with the sun/clouds etc. Happy at Home Re: Loft - Colorbond Roof ....Help Needed! 79Mar 26, 2009 7:43 pm Thorney I understand your concern for sure! We are hoping that if we decide on "loft" that we are the only one's to have it in the estate too, which isn't as stupid as it sounds considering where we live. We have 3 other houses going up around us all about the same time and im really hoping they don't choose loft also, I know exactly where you are coming from, but if they do, so be it, there's nothing we can do about it so no point stressing over it, it'll be nice to have another purple roof house, i'm not changing my roof colour for the sake of other people picking the same thing, although we still may not be able to have it yet, depending on what the CC says about it going with our bricks. Re: Loft - Colorbond Roof ....Help Needed! 80Mar 26, 2009 7:56 pm Don't stress too much. Enjoy the process of building your house, and at the end of the day as you drive down your street you will only have eyes for your beautiful house. Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10216 You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould. 4 18577 |
