We are planning on having 2 exterior fans in our Alfresco area but I found this on the Beacon Lighting website in regards to fans:
Outdoor fans must not be exposed to water under any circumstances and must have at least 3 walls of protection from wind.
Now we will only have one wall which is the house wall and one fence which is about 1.5m away from the alfresco. Other than that it's completly open and a pretty large space - approx 8 x 4 metres. Our alfresco faces south and our plans show southerly prevailling winds would blow right onto it (whatever they are - strong or mild winds??)
So has anyone heard of this before and should we be concerned or not get ceiling fans out there?
