Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 06, 2009 2:46 pm Hi just wanting to know peoples experiences building single storey with EB.
We will be getting out tender results early next week and we hope all goes well. Would love to know what people added as extras We would like 9"ceilings the larger promo extra slide door on alfresco what do I do with this giant water tank the options to change Under ground $5000 extra Slim Line $2000 extra Re: Anyone Building the Saville or a Single storey with EB? 2Mar 09, 2009 1:18 pm Hey,
We're thinking of building the Saville 25. We have already tendered with them but still considering whether or not to go ahead. We had a look at the display again on the weekend. We're not sure what to do with the living and family room. Not sure where to put the TV since the layout doesn't have much options. We don't want a TV in both coz since the rooms are quite close together it would look silly to have two TVs. It seems a bit of a waste of space? But I still love the house coz its spacious. Any ideas of how to use the space. I don't want to just end up putting a lounge in it. As for added extras, we kept ourself tamed coz on a budget and just added the lifestyle package they're offering. Oh also overhead cupboard and microwave space of course. I know what you mean about the giant water tank. Other builders give you a nice slim line one =( But don't think i'll pay extra for it. I'll just place it on the side where no one will see it. Which size are u building? Re: Anyone Building the Saville or a Single storey with EB? 3Mar 09, 2009 4:10 pm Jaydeeh Hey, We're thinking of building the Saville 25. Hi we just got a tender today unhappy as they converted our house to split level due to land fall put us way over budget but still trying to work with it As for what to so with the extra living space we are just putting sofa in it. we added to more for less and added 1.5m to lounge infront of kitchen and alfresco so that why we but the TV on the wall inbetween the window with sofa back facing kitchen extend the media by .5m and all 3 bedrooms not main. We realy wanted our backyard to be flat but that doesn't work too too much to think about but need to think quick. let me know what you are doing with this space Where are you building?? What fall do you have on you block?? Re: Anyone Building the Saville or a Single storey with EB? 4Mar 09, 2009 7:48 pm Aww we're in the same boat. Our land has a 1.4 metre fall and also have to have a split in the house plus garage step down. We were totally shocked too when we found out we had to have a split. It really went over our budget. I wanted to cry hehe. Its coz of the council regulations now of max cut n fill of 600mm only. GRR. I guess looking on the positive side our house will be unique (well at a cost).
We got the tender a month ago actually. We took this time to compare builders site cost. Tendered with another builder. The site cost was cheaper but the end price was still similar. I think most builders will charge the same in the end. But you can still try. I only went to two other builders to compare. We will prob end up building with EB. Just have to sacrifice the upgraded facade we wanted. Well the free ones are actually decent compared to what other builders give you as standard. With the family room at the back, we're thinking of changing the sliding door to a window and swap it with the meals area so that will be the sliding door. Just so we can put a lounge chair on that wall and put the TV on the right hand wall. Hopefully that works. Just thinking if there will be glare from the windows but. Well take your time on deciding. I think no matter which builder you go to you will have a split in the house unless u get a custom designed house? But that would probably end up costing more. Just wish there wasn't all these council regulations =( Keep me updated on your progress and I'll do the same. Good luck.
