Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 06, 2009 12:50 pm We are heading down to Hopetoun tomorrow for another look around and will hopefully start to narrow down our selections!
Just wondering if anyone knows if we can go for a look through the National Tiles showroom? From what I've read you can only go on the day of your appointment but we want to go for a look to see what they have on offer! Has anyone gone in just for a look or am I right by thinking you can only go when you have your appointment? Thanks =) Re: PD - Hopetoun & National Tiles 3Mar 06, 2009 1:12 pm browsing time is every weekend. Saturday and Sunday they are open all day and have lots of staff who take you through your form and show you where you make your selections..then leave you to 'work'. We went about 8 times before we had sorted through everything. We were advised to fill in most of our form before our appointment.
Bricks was the hardest to pick and if you ask them....they can tell you which display house has used it. Depending on which pD house you build, you can also ask teh brick company - ours was Austral as it is a prestige house...so we rang Austral and asked them for houses built using the bricks we were interested in. We took lots of photos of houses we liked to get an idea of colour schemes. House exterior was very difficult for us to decide on. Another piece of advice. Trawl through the PD website at house interiors of all the display houses..then you can ask Hopetoun staff which wall paint was used in that house...etc. It's very very difficult choosing off a small paint chip ...so I found it easier choosing off the PD website. Oh...if you have already had your National tiles appointment...take your tile samples in when you go to Hopetoun...will make choosing kitchen benches, bathroom cabinets, carpet...etc. And most of all....have lots and lots of fun! We are lucky because the colours we like are actually in the display of our house! So we know exactly how it will look but we are changing a few things! Yea we are already struggling with the outside because we think we want charcoal or dark roof tiles with darkish brown bricks which we have seen on lots of houses. Only problem is we don't think there are any dark bricks in the standard range, they all seem red!! and we don't want red but can't afford to upgrade!! So hopefully we find something, like you we want everything decided before our selection appointment! Re: PD - Hopetoun & National Tiles 5Mar 06, 2009 1:29 pm georgie what bricks do you get to chose from at the base price? We too are doing the dark roof and dark bricks! Be careful you dont go too dark with the bricks though our nextdoor neightbour has done so and its very very dark! 2nd build here we come in Whittlesea! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=92617 1st Build - Henley - Cooper in Doreen! Wasn't that the question when they are open? You can go any time to browse not only the weekend.
Hopetoun is weekend only. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: PD - Hopetoun & National Tiles 8Mar 06, 2009 1:35 pm Cinny,
Not 100% sure. We went down to Boral and had a look and going from the brochure we got given from Hopetoun the cat 1 bricks are pretty much all red however when we were at hopetoun last time I'm pretty sure there were darker ones in the standard! So I'm really not sure, I'll have to suss it out tomorrow! The ones I want are cinnamon smooth but I think they are the highest cat upgrade so I won't be getting them! We don't want to dark we just don't want a really red looking brick! Re: PD - Hopetoun & National Tiles 9Mar 06, 2009 1:41 pm georgie we were in the sameboat, there were alot of red bricks but we were lucky though we had the choice of selkirk, boral or austral! Ended up going with Selkirk Ironstone! 2nd build here we come in Whittlesea! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=92617 1st Build - Henley - Cooper in Doreen!
