Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Statesman? Would you be my pacing partner? 221Oct 21, 2009 10:07 pm How exciting netadelle....things are moving fast now. Can't wait to see some pictures. Well we're booked in to pick up our keys tomorrow So excited....I'm still waiting for something to jump out and stop us from getting the keys. Our panel door got installed last week and it's not what we had asked for but I don't think we'll be able to get it changed as we had signed off on the one we have. We pretty much copied the front of our house from another display that we loved. The same window frames, door colour, roof colour, verandah tiles AND panel door. When I seen the panel door we have I thought it looked wrong but wasn't sure so I drove past the display house this morning and yep it's definitely not the same. As the consultant was copying the details from the display we had just trusted that she had put all the correct info in. We wouldn't have known that it was wrong until we seen the door. I don't think they're is much we're going to be able to do about it though, I'll speak with them tomorrow and see what they say but I'm not holding my breath. I think we'll have to replace it ourselves Samantha Building the Leabrook by Statesman at Freeling My Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=15237 We are now in our house!! Re: Building with Statesman? Would you be my pacing partner? 222Oct 21, 2009 11:13 pm Congrats Netadelle on your progress. Seems like we are at very similar stages. We should have our framing finished early next week. Although, unlike you, we have no delivery of bricks at this stage. We received our 1st progress payment yesterday too. I've never been happier about a bill so big. I'm sure this will be the first and only time ever though. Would you be my pacing partner? 223Oct 22, 2009 8:23 am Congratulations on your progress netadelle!!! Fantastic to see it finally coming along after the setbacks, told you it will be worth the wait! It will be bricked up in no time Oh that sucks sammy_sj!! Am really sorry to hear about the panel lift door... Unfortunately as you have signed off on it there is probably little you could do but change it over yourselves afterwards! Just take some photos and put it up on Homeone for sale, might be what someone is looking for and you could get some money back. UPDATE: We have a kitchen!!! Went to the house last night, and we have our kitchen in (less appliances of course), the bathroom cabinets are in (no bench tops), and the spaky has done the 2nd electrical fix! We have lights throught and power points/light switches! Is just about ready for painting and tiling! Is going so fast! Considering we had a slab on 20/07/2009, we have got to this point in 3 months!? The builder has advised that the rest of the tiling (living areas and entrance) will be done nect and then the painting! Apart from that seems like a few odd things like taps, etc. need to go in but apart from that we are on track! Not getting my hopes up but told handover should be in about 4 weeks! Our frame is finished so I can offically talk to our SS now. He thinks it will be no more then 16 weeks until we are in! Our brickwork was supposed to start on Monday, but I have told them I think there is something wrong with the bricks. So the PGH rep is aparantly going to look at them tommorow. I will try to find out what time tommorow to meet them! I am hoping to update the blog soon! There is so much to write about! Re: Building with Statesman? Would you be my pacing partner? 231Nov 03, 2009 11:17 am That is great netadelle!!! You have a frame already?! G-reat! I spoke to our SS yesterday and we are in this months handover cycle. This means we will have our keys this month. Our tiles have been finished and the painters have just started. Next week the plumbers are back for the fitout and the shower screens also are getting fitted. It sounds like yours is the same as ours so you might be in by the end of the month also. http://buildingatfreeling.blogspot.com/ Building at Freeling Estate Adelaide MKII WE ARE NOW OFFICIALLY FIRST HOME OWNERS AND WE BUILT A NEW HOME FROM SCRATCH Re: Building with Statesman? Would you be my pacing partner? 233Nov 03, 2009 8:03 pm netadelle Our frame is finished so I can offically talk to our SS now. What do you mean by this? Did you have to wait for the frame to be finished before you were allowed to talk to him? Before he would talk to you? Before you asked him any questions because you wanted to allow the to finish and fix and problems before you queried? Curious - just because we have had no contact at all from our SS to date and our framing is just about finished too. We have only had contact from our CSA. Would you be my pacing partner? 234Nov 03, 2009 8:55 pm Statesman/Hickinbotham sent out at a letter stating who our SS was but that he was not responsible for the build until the framework had been complete, until then the first few tradies the early stages where organised straight from head office. We had a report done on the footings and when I rang Statesman to ask for the SS email address so I could email it to him I was told to email it to the client liason team instead as they dealt with things like that, and that the SS wasn't responsible for the build until the frame was complete. So yeah, frames complete! So I sent him an email I'm kicking myself that I didn't complain about the bricks earlier, but I didn't want to say anything until I had checked out the display home and made sure that they where 'wrong' Can you see the difference in the bricks? OR am I going mad? http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee153/netadelle/IMG_0196.jpg http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee153/netadelle/IMG_0197.jpg Re: Building with Statesman? Would you be my pacing partner? 235Nov 04, 2009 6:14 pm I can see a difference in the 2nd picture (not so much in the first), but I think you'll find that even if you question, you will get a response that there are slight variances from batch to batch anyhow. The only thing I expect you will be assured of, is that all your bricks are from the same batch. Must be a bit disappointing that is doesn't meet your expectations. However, do speak up, just in case. Better safe than sorry! Would you be my pacing partner? 236Nov 06, 2009 11:18 am I agree with TamDaz netadelle, it does look different in the 2nd pic, but they will say they vary batch to batch so there is probably little you can do... Yup, we seem to be not too far behind you craigandamy, but we have seen no action at out house since Sunday... They haven't started the tiling for the hall and lving area, so I guess that will start next week, which means painting will be the week after? Ah wells, we are going to the Gold Coast for a week at the end of November so we couldn't have a PCI then anyhoo... OR am I going mad? We had a problem with our bricks when they were delivered too, I grabbed one of them and the one we had as a sample from before and took them to Austral and they immediately said they were a terrible batch and after a few phone calls a couple of days later they were picked up and replaced with a new and good batch. This is the difference looked like in our case, good luck with yours. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Building with Statesman?
