Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 05, 2009 8:55 pm Hi all, I'm new to this site, My wife & I have a block & are deciding if we should go with AVJ as the site costs came back a lot higher than we expected. Around $35000. There is some provisional costs included that we may be able to reduce? We are First time home buyers & it's all new to us. Has anyone else experienced site costs like these? I know it all depends on type of block & everyone is different but, I just can't help to feel they are really high compared to what a lfew of people estimated. Has anyone ever got a second opinion & found a considerable cost difference? Thanks i appreciate any advice at all James[/b] Re: Really high site costs! Dimensions, fall, soil type, size of dwelling.... then we will happily tell you what we thing of the cost they've given you. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Our site costs with 1 builder are also considerably high than others .. we've held back and are getting other opinions .. --- I don't have a signature - just this sentence saying that I don't have one - that'll do! Anyone else? 5Mar 05, 2009 10:34 pm I wouldn't rely on provisional amounts resulting in your getting money back in your pocket. They just have to prove how they spent the money by providing an invoice down the track. Get the amounts set or just believe that you will be paying at least that figure for that provision. Anyone else? 8Mar 07, 2009 5:12 pm I am sure I read in another thread A.V.J is in debt, and they are hoping to trade their way out because Australia has many more homes to build.
Maybe some padding is involved in the site costs to help them trade out. do not pay until you are satisfied with workmanship windows require flashing over the head archithrave and up under weatherboards 3 28281 A survey must’ve completed by a certified surveyor.
